This is a new playoff thread I created, Conference Finals

I created this because to me the Final 4 is what it is all about. The big boys make it this far whether it be in the NBA - West/East Finals, Baseball with the NLCS/ALCS, or the NFL's AFC/NFC Title games. The best of the best happens from here on out.

In the East you have the Celtics vs Heat, in the West you have the Lakers vs Nuggets. Who wins each series and why? I will start with the East, unfortunately I have the Celtics winning but in 7 tough games 4-3. The Heat won tonight but IMO the Celtics are the better team. Jimmy Butler is the best player in this series but not by much over Tatum. The combo of Tatum and Brown together should get the Celtics the series win. I expect Walker to play pretty evenly against Dragic as well as the series goes deeper but we will see? Down 1-0 so far though to the Heat. In the West, I have Lakers in 6 games 4-2. I can see this series being tied at 2-2 but then Lakers show they are the better team from then on. The Nuggets are a gritty team and Murray and the Joker are no joke but LeBron and AD are just simply too much.

As the Nuggets exposed the Jazz and Clippers, the Lakers exposed the Blazers and Rockets, and the Heat exposed the Bucks (with a healthy Giannis for 3 games), I fully expect the Lakers to expose a very resilient Nuggets squad (Denver could probably beat Boston right now) and the Heat - as evidenced last night - can and likely will get past the Celtics. The problems guarding versatile big men that the Clippers had with Jokic will give the Celtics fits, as Bam Adebayo will continue his hot play and the Heat will confuse the still-young Celtics squad and keep them off their game. Kemba Walker is playing horribly, and if he finds his missing game then that may be the difference in an eventual Celtics series win, but Miami is playing with so much confidence and focus right now.

Although a Lakers/Celtics matchup is what 99% of the world wants to see (not to mention NBA profiteers), I will be juuuuust fiiiiine with seeing both the Clippers and Celtics SMACKED out of the Finals, giving us our best shot at winning what may be considered an *asterisk Larry O'Brien Trophy . . but considering the amazingly efficient and balanced way the NBA has organized and presented these playoffs, I don't see any reason not to consider it a 100% legitimate Finals championship, comparable to any other NBA season in history.

8 more wins. :LOBtrophy:

Clippers 50 years as a franchise and no Final 4's. How is that possible? Even the (NBA) Pacers have been to 8 Final 4's since the 1994 season = 1994, 1995, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2004, 2013, and 2014 plus they made the NBA Finals in 2000 losing to Shaq, Kobe, and Phil which is no shame in that at all. Even the Cubs have played in 3 NLCS since the 2015 season = 2015, 2016, and 2017, and won the WS Championship in the 2016 season. The Colts won the SB in 2006 and have been to 4 Final 4's since 2003 = 2003, 2006, 2009, and 2014. Andrew Luck got us to 1 in 2014 so we made 1 even without Peyton.

The Clippers are an embarrassment, a huge market team that spends into the luxury tax - stacking their team and can't ever even make it out of the 2nd round. In 2015 they had Blake, CP3, and Jordan but blew a 3-1 lead in the 2nd round as well. That is what they do :roflmao: . They were loaded this season with Leonard, PG, and Lou Williams and blew another 3-1 lead in the 2nd round.

LA will always be a Lakers town, 10 Championships since 1980 = 1980, 1982, 1985, 1987, 1988, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2009, and 2010. Now back in the Final 4 in 2020 while a pandemic is going on. The Lakers are the greatest franchise ever period in all sports. The Yankees won a lot of their WS before integration (1947) - 10 of their 27 came before 1947. The Yankees are the kings of baseball though as they have won 17 WS since the 1947 season. They have won 5 WS since 1996 = 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2009. The Celtics won a lot of their Championships in the 60's only having to win 2 series and not very many teams in the league. The Lakers have got the better of the Celtics since 1980 and it isn't even close.

Yeah isn't that insane competition. The Pacers had to face Jordan/Pippen/Phil, then Shaq/Kobe/Phil, then LeBron/Wade/Bosh. No wonder why they have 0 Championships :waaaaa: . Clippers with a stacked team lose to the Nuggets for cry an out loud.

The All-NBA 1st team was announced today:
PG - James Harden
SG - Luka Doncic
SF - LeBron James
PF - Giannis Antetokounmpo
PF/C - Anthony Davis

Where is Kawhi Leonard and Paul George at, oh I know - they are 1-2-3 CANCUN :weakout:, I loved watching Max Kellerman, Skip Bayless, and Chris Broussard today just trying to find every excuse in the world for Kawhi after last night. They all have said he was the best player in the league all year. Man that was hilarious.

I have a twitter account and a Facebook account but never use them. i have seen some of the tweets by Dame and CJ and I love it :waaaaa: . Yeah I am afraid if I used Facebook a lot, eventually I would say something to get banned anyway so I don't use it :roflmao:

Anyone heard from Lakers4Life? He hasn't posted in a long time. I seen where Jesus posted the other day so we know he is ok. Nuggs is a mayor :kingclaphands:, Kenny is probably waiting to post again once we make the Finals is my guess. It is pretty much Championship or bust now for the Lakers IMO. We are favored to win it all.

Heat baby! Up 2-0 over the Pukes :waaaaa: , The Heat have been so impressive this whole playoffs! Man 1st watching the Clippers get punked was priceless, now the Heat punking the Pukes so far is unreal :kingclaphands:. Teams that are up 2-0 in a series in NBA history win 92% of the time.

The Los Angeles Lakers' LeBron James has secured his 16th All-NBA selection - surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Kobe Bryant and Tim Duncan for most in NBA history. James and teammate Anthony Davis have both been selected First-Team All-NBA this year - the first time a Lakers duo have been selected since 2003-04, when Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant both made the First Team.

I fully expect LeBron to lead the Lakers to a championship this year, and to enter next season as the favorites to win it all again. Let's get this!

The greatest players I have ever seen live (from 1977-2020) are 1. Jordan, 2. Magic, 3. Kareem.

-After that I have these players on the same tier = Kobe, LeBron, Bird, and Shaq. Questions Rev, If LeBron wins this championship should he be automatically rated 4th all-time in the years we have watched - our generation? or even higher than 4? or better than Kobe?

I have Lakers in 6 over the Nuggets. I also have Lakers in 6 whoever comes out of the East. To me I don't see how we lose at this point.

If LeBron doesn't suddenly pull a Westbrook/Harden/Kawhi/George :waaaaa: , he'll be firmly on Mt. Rushmore. And you're going to hear EVERYBODY including some Laker-haters say it. The whole "better than Kobe" thing will never fit with me, because they played in two separate eras and conferences against different competition and at different positions. I don't think we've ever seen a more dominating physical specimen than LeBron, and his longevity and winning percentage, plus his stats, put him firmly in the argument of "best ever". He'll probably play three more seasons barring injury, and will likely want to leave the Lakers in a great position to stay in the playoff hunt when he retires.

I as well as plenty of others spent many seasons talking shit about him, but he's taken all the mud-slinging and risen FAR above it both on and off the court. Magic bringing him to the Lakers will go down as one of the biggest things to ever happen to the franchise. This year in particular means SO much more because of the loss of Kobe, the Covid pandemic and the social justice issues, and LeBron has led the squad through it all while playing at a level no one else seems to achieve.

#17 coming up.

Great post but out of the players we have seen = basically since the mid 70's (our generation), if LeBron belongs on Mt Rushmore then Kobe, Bird, and Shaq get left off. I can't see a Mt Rushmore in my lifetime without Jordan, Magic, and Kareem.

If LeBron's Lakers pull a Clippers I guess it is a moot point for sure :waaaaa: but I don't see that happening. LeBron's Finals record still bothers me when we are talking all-time greats, 3-6 is bad but 4-6 looks much better. Some can say will he played a stacked Warriors team but Bird played a stacked a Lakers team in the 80's losing twice to them, other wise he has 5 rings.

Just caught the middle of 2nd quarter. Lakers seemed in control with Jokic and Murray in foul trouble but Nuggets were able to hang around. Not a good sign. LBJ doin LBJ things but need better defensive energy and certainly we can’t let “the others” hang with us when their big two are on the bench. 2nd half could prove how I am over reacting and Lakers are too much.......I hope.
