2019 NBA Playoffs

I just watched the 2nd half of the Lakers/Celtics finals Game 7 in 2010 for the fun of it. That made Kobe's legacy and put him in the top 5 discussion of all-time by getting that win. That was a huge win for him and the Lakers beating that team. Getting 2 without Shaq was sweet. He needed that to boost his legacy. In the post game interview, Kobe said, I got 5 and Shaq has 4 :waaaaa:

As far as where he'll land among the all-time greats, it'll always be debated. Certainly he, Kobe and the undisputed Jordan will always be in the discussion.

I know, I seem to come off as a LeBron hater but in reality I just list facts. LeBron is an all-time great and only a fool would say he isn't. Having said that, IMO he definitely isn't better than Jordan or Magic. Kobe/LeBron debate is reasonable but I like Kobe's killer instinct better. I would rather have Bird in crunch time to be honest if I need a huge shot and Kareem has a better resume than all of these guys. I would take Shaq over LeBron if I was starting a team as well. That is a short list of players I just threw out so my hate for LeBron is really overrated, I just question if he is top 5 ever. If I have LeBron 6th or 7th of all-time out of a million players, is that really being hater? :waaaaa: .

In the end a lot of it is about winning championships. LeBron has 3 like Bird and Shaq has more with 4. Like in Football, I rank Peyton Manning the 3rd best QB ever because he wasn't as great as Brady or Montana when it counted. Peyton still won 2 SB's but Brady has 6 and Montana has 4. The only other QB's that have won more SB's than Peyton are Bradshaw with 4 and Aikman with 3 but those guys didn't have near the MVP's that Peyton had. Peyton won 5 MVP's, Bradshaw 1, Aikman 0. That shows the worth of those QB's. Bradshaw and Aikman were on stacked teams and basically just did not have to fuck it up :roflmao: .

To add to this, Durant would probably have 0 rings if he didn't join the Warriors, what a thought huh?

The Celtics clearly aren't who we (or they, or their fans) thought they were, so if Kawhi stays we'll see him and Giannis facing each other again and again. The East is kind of fun to watch again, which I think was the ambition of Stern and several small-market owners back in 2010. The Lakers are literally going to have to fight their way back into relevance with innovative decisions and money management. Hopefully Jeannie is making her next front office decision wisely - Luke and Magic were clearly made from the heart not the head - and our players of substance can get locked-in on winning games.

I'll be pulling for Kawhi and Canada, though the Warriors are pretty locked-in themselves and will be incredibly tough to take down.

Go Raptors! They got Game 1, up 1-0. They have to win Game 2 as well. If they go up 2-0 then we have excitement, anxiety on the Warriors part and their fans. Hey Raptors, win this for Kobe, Shaq, Horry, Fish, and Phil. I want my 2002 Lakers to be remembered as the last 3Peat team.

Warriors fans claim not to be worried, but their "We don't need KD" stance may be shifting. I do hope Toronto wins game 2 because it's going to be extremely difficult to win in Oakland. No more 2-3-2 format, though -- the NBA went back to 2-2-1-1-1 in 2013.

Raptors have to win Game 2 as well otherwise they are in trouble if they lose that one. If they win Game 2 and go up 2-0, I give them a 60% chance of winning the series at that point. Warriors would have major work cut out for them being down 0-2.

1-1 now :roflmao: . Raptors had their chance to put a stranglehold on the series. I am not sure they can win at Golden St? Warriors steal HCA and momentum.

I came verrry close to getting a ticket for Game 3 - I know the guys who do floor security for the Warriors and the ticket would have been a steal ($350 for pre-game VIP access) but I didn't pull the trigger. Might get a chance for Game 4 but I'll likely go see Kershaw pitch vs. the Giants that night. The Warriors are banged up and they'll need all-star performances from Curry, Iggy, Boogie and Bogut if they don't want to drop one of these games. The ESPN broadcasts from the Lake Chalet Boathouse on Lake Merritt in Oakland are back in effect, I might try to get down there Friday morning.

Just wrapped up on ESPN First Take with Stephen A., Max Kellerman and Molly. Snoop stopped by and there was enough Laker representation to piss off these opportunistic Warrior fans! Raptors in 6 (or maybe 5)!

This looks over, Warriors are finding out that 3-Peating isn't easy. Injuries and fatigue happens, look at what happened to the 1989 Lakers. Nobody felt sorry for us when Magic got injured. This is great for the league because people are sick of the Warriors winning every year. These finals are actually refreshing, no LeBron and the Warriors going down in flames. Of course with LeBron now as a Laker I want him back in the finals but still refreshing to watch this. Last team to 3Peat will remain the 2002 Lakers, thank God we squeezed it out against the Queens. That was the real finals in 2002.

A friend of mine (lifelong Dubs fan) told me before the Finals started that he thought the Raptors might pull a 2004 Detroit Pistons, and boy was he right. Toronto is for real, and though they still have to win one more game, they have proven to the world that they are worthy. The Steph angle (not an MVP when it counts) and the KD angle (more injured than reported and possibly gone to another team) only add fuel to the dumpster fire that the Dubs have become.

*side note - no "Raptors won't make White House visit" drama, they're not an American team so they can go visit their Canadian president!

This Raptors team is better than that Pistons team. That Pistons team did not have anyone like Leonard. The 2004 Finals was complete bull shit IMO. People always like to talk about things being rigged for the Lakers like 2002 WCFinals and 2010 Finals. If anything was rigged it was that shameful Finals in 2004. The Pistons shot twice as many FT's compared to LA and barely got by the weak Nets in the Semi-Finals. The Lakers beat the Spurs 4 in a row when Duncan was dominating and took out Garnett and the Wolves in 6. Then unexplainably they can't beat a team that squeaked by the Nets and a team that had trouble scoring with no superstars?? Everyone in Vegas had their money on LA as well. Vegas cleaned house :roflmao: . I call total bull shit of a series. Nobody will ever change my mind on that. The 1997/1998 version of the Jazz would've beat the 2004 Pistons in 6 games and they never won a Title. The team the Jazz lost too (the Bulls) were so much better than the 2004 Pistons.

Thanks. The 2004 Finals is a real touchy subject with me because I feel like the Lakers got cheated. I really do. My step-dad even agrees with me. He could not even believe the foul difference between the 2 teams and the way the REFS just let the Pistons play aggressive and were calling everything on the Lakers. It wasn't just 1 game, it was the whole series. I have been watching basketball since the 1977 Finals and in my time the 2004 Pistons were the worst NBA Champ I ever seen by my eye test. A few teams that did not win a title like the 1997 and 98 Jazz, 2002 Kings, and 2012 Thunder all would've beat them in a series. That is JMO but we will never have no way of knowing unfortunately. I also think the 1986 Rockets would've beat them with Akeem and Ralph. They beat us and took Boston's beat team ever 6 tough games.
