MLB - the 7th Inning Stretch

2 wins in a row now by the Cubs, Cards lost again as well. The last 2 nights have made up for that crappy weekend! The whole NL Central is Good this season except for the Reds. Standings after tonight look like this:

Cards 20-14 (%points ahead of the BrewCrew)
BrewCrew 21-15 (tied for 1st)
Pirates 20-16 (1 back)
Cubs 18-15 (in 4th but just 1.5 games out of 1st)
Reds are 9-27 = They are the only Bad team in the bunch.

-Cubs IMO are in pretty good shape with it only being May 8th and 1.5 out of 1st. They haven't even come close to playing their best ball yet. Yu Darvish needs to get his shit together and earn his money though.

Just got done following the Dodgers/D-Backs game. Eventhough it's only May 8th, I am not so sure Dave Roberts shouldn't be fired. Dodgers cant beat the D-Backs to save their life! 9 games back now at 15-20. D-Backs are 24-11. Hell they are running away with the Division. Are the Dodgers having a WS loss hangover? WTH is going on in LA?

Just reminiscing over the last 3 Cubs seasons when the Cubs got Very Good then Great:
-2015 = 97-65 in the NL Central, made WildCard. Defeated the Pirates 1-0 in WildCard Game, defeated the Cards 3-1 in the NLDS, lost to the Mets 0-4 in the NLCS. Mets taught our youngsters a lesson, nice butt whipping experience . Jake Arrieta won NL Cy Young in 2015.

-2016 = 103-58 winning the NL Central. Defeated the Giants 3-1 in the NLDS, defeated the Dodgers 4-2 in the NLCS, defeated the Indians 4-3 in the World Series. 2016 WORLD CHAMPIONS! Kris Bryant won NL MVP in 2016, Ben Zobrist won WS MVP in 2016. 2nd greatest World Champion over the last 31 seasons record wise and counting (1987-2017)

-2017 = 92-70 winning the NL Central. Defeated the Nationals 3-2 in the NLDS - defended their Championship well and wasn't one and done at least, lost to the Dodgers 1-4 in the NLCS. Dodgers were on their A game and the Cubs were out of gas regarding their Pitching. Still making the NLCS is a Very Good season. At least the Cubs didn't get swept.

*What will 2018 bring? Who knows? But Baseball has been VERY VERY GOOD TO ME (in my Nigerian voice) OVER THE LAST 3 SEASONS! :roflmao:

*Last time Cards won a WS was in 2011, last time Whitesox won a WS was 2005. Those are the 2 fanbases that hate the Cubs. Sorry you aint us you douche fanbases! GO CUBS!

Yeah we can't seem to get right - it's our batting more than our pitching. If we keep sliding, you can be sure Roberts will be on the hot seat . . our window can't close this quickly.

Still a long way to go Rev but the D-Backs are Good at 24-11 and not a fluke that's the problem. Good luck tonight against them. Regarding my Cubs, they have been up and down so far. They just swept the Marlins today 3 games to 0 so it was a nice bounce back after the Cards series. Cubs are just now 1 game out of 1st place at 19-15, Cards are at 20-14. The NL Central is no joke this season, overall the Top 4 teams look Good:
Cards 20-14
BrewCrew 21-16
Pirates 21-16
Cubs 19-15 (just 1 game back)
-I think the Pirates will fall off eventually but the Cards and BrewCrew look legit to me.

Here are the bests over the last decade = 2010-2017 Seasons so far. Only 2 seasons left = 2018 and 2019 this decade.

-Team of the Decade = SF Giants. They have won 3 WS in 2010, 2012, 2014.

-Player of the Decade = Pitcher - Madison Bumgarner. 3-Time WS Champion, won WS MVP in 2014. Has an 8-3 record in the Postseason and a Save in Game 7 of the 2014 WS!

-Best single season team that has won a WS = 2016 Chicago Cubs. In 2016 the Cubs were 103-58 and went on to win the WS.

*Still 2 seasons left but as of now this holds.

For you Kenny, my bests from 2000-2009 over the decade of the 00's:

-Team of the Decade = New York Yankees. They won 2 WS in 2000 and 2009. The Boston RedSox also won 2 WS in that decade but I gave the Yankees the Team of the Decade because they also had the best single season team in 2009. Their 2000 team was also a 3Peat team.

-Player of the Decade = SS - Derek Jeter. 2-Time WS Champion during the decade, won WS MVP in 2000, batted .317 for the whole decade, and won 4 Gold Glove Gloves that decade from 2004-2006 and in 2009.

-Best single season team that has won a WS = 2009 New York Yankees. In 2009 the Yankees were 103-59 and went on to win the WS.

*You guys owned that decade! No other way of putting it. Won the 1st WS of the decade and the last.

The Top 4 teams in the NL Central are sizzling hot right now! As of the end of tonight (May 12th),
Cards 22-14 (W2)
BrewCrew 23-16 (W2) .5 back
Pirates 22-16 (W4) 1 game back
Cubs 20-15 (W4) 1.5 back
-Cubs have won 4 in a row and cant gain any ground because everyone else keeps winning ahead of them. :roflmao: At least the Brewers and Pirates do have more losses.

Huge win for my Cubs tonight 3-2, they pulled a Braves on the Braves and stole one with a comeback in the 9th Inning. 22-17 now on the season, Braves surprisingly have the best record in the NL at 25-16 now so that was a nice win. Cubs are still 1.5 games out of 1st place in the NL Central because the Brewers have been a tear lately at 25-17. Still real early in the season though, doubt they can keep it up?

Brewers just lost to the D-Backs. So the Cubs are now just 1 game out of 1st the NL Central again behind the 24-17 Pirates and 25-18 Brewers. Cubs have been just ok so far at 22-17 but are only 2 games behind the 25-16 Braves from having the best record in the NL. Once we turn it on, we should be able to get the best record eventually. With the Dodgers at 16-25 there really is no dominant team in the NL this year so far.

Some fun history guys!

Since my Cubs finally ended their curse in 2016 of not winning a WS, take a look at the teams that have the longest drought's of not winning a WS as we are now in the 2018 Season:
1. Cleveland Indians = 1948
2. Texas Rangers = Their franchise started in 1961, they have never won a WS.
3. Milwaukee Brewers = Their franchise started in 1969, they have never won a WS.
3. San Diego Padres = Their franchise also started in 1969, they have never won a WS.
3. Washington Nationals = Their franchise also started in 1969, they have never won a WS.
6. Seattle Mariners = Their franchise started in 1977, they have never won a WS.
7. Pittsburgh Pirates = 1979
8. Baltimore Orioles = 1983
9. Detroit Tigers = 1984
10. New York Mets = 1986
11. LA Dodgers = 1988
-I listed the teams that have went 30 seasons or longer without a WS Championship.

-Here are the last 10 WS Champions:
2008 - Philadelphia Phillies
2009 - New York Yankees
2010 - SF Giants
2011 - St Louis Cardinals
2012 - SF Giants
2013 - Boston RedSox
2014 - SF Giants
2015 - KC Royals
2016 - Chicago Cubs
2017 - Houston Astros

Old school Dodger fans would never have guessed that we'd go so long without another championship. Way too long for "an LA team" to be dry. But that's baseball -- the diversity and parity ensures that teams can come out of left field (pun intended) and make a run all the way to the WS. Repeating is difficult, just getting back is difficult. The Dodgers are having a terrible start to the season, but the return of Justin Turner seems to have sparked them a bit.

Yes, Baseball has a lot of parity. One year you can be on top, the next you don't even make the Playoffs. That is why the Cubs making 3 straight NLCS's and winning a WS is real impressive. They were Very Good to Great for 3 seasons in a row. They are still Good this season. I love the way the Dodgers have looked the last few days or so and the D-Bags as you like to call them :roflmao: are finally losing! Dodgers are only 6 back now, that Division is far from over with 115 games left.
