GAME PREVIEW: 76ERS AT LAKERS: Who's even going to play in this one?

The Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers will go head-to-head at Staples Center on Thursday, which would be a big deal if both teams were healthy. However, with LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Joel Embiid all nursing injuries, Thursday’s contest is expected to be the latest national TV letdown for the NBA.

That doesn’t mean there won’t be plenty of eyes around the Lakers and 76ers on Thursday, though. As reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN on Wednesday, the Lakers and 76ers are among the teams hoping to land Kyle Lowry before the trade deadline, which is Thursday at 12:00 p.m. PT.

If Lowry is traded to either the Lakers or 76ers before the game, he obviously won’t be available, but neither will the players that they traded for him. The same thing can be said about any play the Lakers or 76ers trade for, so both teams’ benches may look barren on Thursday.

Honestly, the more that I think about it, the less certain I am that I can say anything about it other than that there will be a game and a few players from both teams will participate in it. Which ones? Your guess is as good as mine at this point.

Notes and Updates

Anthony Davis (right calf strain), Jared Dudley (right MCL tear) and LeBron James (right ankle sprain) are out. Marc Gasol isn’t on the injury report, but his status for Thursday’s game is unknown. Vogel has held Gasol out of the last two games so he can get back in shape after three weeks without games.

Hopefully we are learning from losses like the last one - where our buckets are coming from, who works best and where, and how we can most effectively stop the other team's scorers from taking the game away from us. Needless to say that every game is crucial at this point, and when LeBron and AD return they may be putting in more minutes that normal while the other teams are trying to rest their stars for the playoffs.

Vogel and Co. should feel that we can beat anybody in the West, especially over a 7-game series - at our full strength only the Jazz, I think, are mentally prepared to give us problems. Sucks to have to deal with LeBron and AD out, but at least we have that excuse as to why we are not going to win a lot of games.

Hopefully our Big 3 of Kostas, McKinnie and Matthews can keep their hot streak going and bring home a win tonight. Seriously, the combo of Harrell, Schroeder, Kuz and Caruso with some THT mixed in should be able to conjure-up some stretches of magic, if Coach can find the right rhythm.

As of today, most of the talking heads over at ESPN = Stephen A, Max Kellerman, Mike Greeney, etc. are all picking the Nets to win it all. Charles Barkley said that James Harden is the best player in the league. Durant can match LeBron scoring wise in a series and Irving is better than any guard we have they all say. In a way I love being the underdog, all the pressure is really on the Nets and the Jazz as well. Jazz are getting a lot of hype but deservedly so, with that tremendous pressure is there to win come playoff time though. In probability come playoff time, LeBron and AD both will be near 100% so we will see. I will say if there is a scenario where we play the Jazz in round 1 that will be tough. The Clippers are good but I don't see them as a championship contender like I do the Jazz, the Clippers choke every year.

Sixers with 15 3's tonight, ridiculous. Down 76-62 now. It amazes me a talent like Ben Simmons who has Magic Johnson type passing skills can't shoot a lick. He has been in the league enough to be able to develop a shot. He has yet to do so.

Without LeBron we are simply out of sync/sloppy. Without LeBron and AD both our D stinks but I figured it would. Like Ken said you can't win with role players, take any teams 2 best players off and they will stink. Milton just hit a 3 with a guy draped on him lol, it is all going their way with that lucky shit. 89-71 Sixers after 3.

To bring up Ben Simmons again, his FG% is 56% for the season (56% for his career) but his outside shot is still weak and his FT% stinks for his career. That is an example of why FG% is deceiving. I remember when Tate and I used to debate and he would always say LeBron's FG% was better than Bird's so he was a better shooter. That was false, Bird was a better shooter but LeBron gets easier baskets inside. Like a Center may have a FG% of 60% but outside of 10 feet it would be brick city. One thing about LeBron I will say is, he has came a long way in developing a nice outside shot the last few years.

Dwight Howard getting ejected was funny, he got his ring with us which I love. He deserved it. I miss his defense.
