Hey all - when Kenny can't get a gameday page up, this can be the default topic to discuss the game.

Lakers got past Memphis 108-94 tonight (1/3). Happy New Year to you all!

James played within the offense for the first three quarters, then became more aggressive to start the fourth, scoring the Lakers first 10 points of the period. His 3-pointer with 2:34 left made it 101-90.

After surrendering 36 points in the first quarter, the Lakers held the Grizzlies to 18, 21, and 19 over the final three periods.

“That’s figuring out opponents, making in-game adjustments and doing what’s necessary to get a win,” Lakers coach Frank Vogel said.

The teams will meet again Tuesday night.

Thanks Rev, I am usually good about doing it as well but had a lot going on. Yeah we had a strong 4th Qtr and got another win. We are definitely the team to beat in the NBA. LeBron still has at least 2 maybe 3 great years left in him.

Wow, what a runaway win! Definitely showed the league that we are still a force even without AD, and with LeBron not having to play 30+ minutes. Great team defense and excellent ball sharing.

Golden State tied a season low with three offensive rebounds. ... They were 8 of 34 from beyond the arc. The 23.5% accuracy rate is their fourth worst of the season. ... The 20 turnovers marked the fourth time this season they have had 20 or more.

Los Angeles finished with season highs in rebounds (60) and steals (14) ... Dennis Schröder scored 12 points and Talen Horton-Tucker 11. ... Damian Jones finished with eight points, three rebounds and two blocks in eight minutes in his LA debut. ... The Lakers were 6 of 9 on 3-pointers in the first quarter but struggled the rest of the game, going 5 of 22.

Great default thread when my old brain farts occasionally. I was with my GF, but no excuse because I had my laptop with me and three times thought about posting the GAME THREAD and then forgot after each thought! It was a bit of a pay back game after they threw up that stinker second half the first time they played the Dubs. Next!

Monday: Warriors
Tuesday: Wolves

Thursday: Hornets

Saturday: Hawks
Sunday: Suns

We need to go AT LEAST 3-2 . . wondering how Vogel will play LeBron on the second of the back-to-backs. Still without AD for at least two more weeks. Heat check time!!

Well. 3-2. Win win win loss loss.

Some of our scorers had sub-par shooting nights.

Kuzma 5-16 for 13 points in 36 minutes.

Schroeder 8-14 (not bad but still 6 shots left on the floor)

Kentavious 2-7 for 7 points in 30 minutes??

THT 6-16 ok not bad but that's ten misses.

20% from 3 is not gonna get it in today's league, not by a longshot - no pun intended. Even with LeBron we maybe still lose this one. FLUSH IT.

lol. 2 in a row - Lakers 96 Orlando 93, (LeBron who - just joking "lol4: ). Kuzma had a great game = 21/11 and so did Schroder with 24 points. 30-17 now on the season.

USC or UCLA Rev? Both are in the Final 8, insane year for the NCAA.

OK, suddenly we're deep at the center position, but will Andre Drummond abide? Here's a GREAT read for you to mull over.

Like all good Trojan fans, I despise everything Bruin. They have had some insanely talented athletes over the decades, though. The next round is going to be tough, as USC goes against the overall #1 undefeated prohibitive favorite Gonzaga, and UCLA faces up against the other #1, Michigan.

Pretty good article - it exposes the "bum" Drummond has been sometimes labeled as, but allows for Vogel, AD and LeBron to maximize his skill set. Between what's going on over in Brooklyn and that rapscallion Rondo returning to Staples, the Lakers have some audacious work to do to get back on track and defend their title.

Nuggets' star Jamal Murray is likely gone with a torn ACL in his left knee . . never good to see, BUT it impacts everybody in the West with WCF hopes. Paul George also has a lingering injury to his toe that hasn't necessarily slowed him down, but we all know his playoff troubles. Knock on wood we can get our entire squad back healthy and tuned-up in time to kick ass, because realistically none of these Western teams can beat us 4 out of 7.

And now Lamarcus Aldridge has suddenly retired. Again, not making light of anyone's health issues, but the Nuggets, Clippers and now the Nets . . ? Seems like somebody wants us to repeat. Just saying.

:yeahthat:

12 apiece from Trez and Ben (who is doing some pretty fine shooting!), 17 apiece from Alex and KCP (who only shot 3-pointers all night but went 4 of 9!) and of course an unstoppable monster night for AD. Both teams made 39 total buckets (we shot 7 more than them), and Phoenix actually shot a better %, but we grossly out-rebounded them and got the rest of our points from the FT line thanks to lots of fouling by Chris Paul, DeAndre Ayton and Frank Kaminsky. Good defensive showing except on Cameron Payne, who's averaging 7.7 points a game this season but exploded for 24 tonight on 9-for-10 including 4-of-5 from downtown. Without his contribution we would have blown them out. So good showing.

Our remaining games are all definite winnables, especially if we can get a few minutes out of LeBron before the playoffs.
