GAME PREVIEW: THUNDER AT LAKERS

by lakeshowlife.com

The Los Angeles Lakers will dominate the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday.
Wait a second! Donovan Mitchell went off for 33 points! Mike Conley had 24! There’s NO WAY the Los Angeles Lakers can stop OKC’s three-point guards! How is this a good matchup?

True, Chris Paul will go off. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Dennis Schröder will too. No worries! All point guards seemingly average 30 points per game today.

Just compare the today’s top 5 scoring list to 10 years ago.

The game has changed. The Los Angeles Lakers two much-maligned defensive shortcomings — guarding the ball and getting back on defense — are further magnified because the NBA is a guard-oriented, fast-paced game. Unfortunately, the Lakers’ two weakest points on defense just so happens to coincide with the league’s two strongest points on offense.

Even with Avery Bradley, they struggled to stop opposing guards. Without Bradley, they are atrocious. That is not changing.

Regardless, it often does not matter. The Lakers are an anomaly.

Welcome back Ken. Things are looking great for our Lakers. Hopefully LeBron and AD can stay 100% healthy for our run at #17. Rondo should be back for the playoffs too but Caruso is no joke. Thunder have overachieved this year, this may be a tough game but we already clinched the #1 seed in the West so if Vogel wants to he can manage minutes and experiment as well.

I don't know about you guys but this is fun watching NBA basketball in August with it being meaningful. Adam Silver creating this bubble looks like it is going to work. We look like we are going to have a competitive playoffs and crown a champion after all. The crowd noise even seems real at times for the home team and our PA announcer is the same = Lawrence Tanter :kingclaphands:

Well this is truly a meaningless game. We have 4 games to get our shit together and then probably the fucking Blazers to look forward to. Other than the Clippers and maybe the Nuggets, I’d almost rather play any other team in the first round.

OK . . . C. Has a lot to play for. We don't. We're just running up and down the court. Why not play Dwight more and our stars less? Oh well. That #1 seed means MUCH LESS with no homecourt advantage in the bubble.

My only concern is that if we have solid individual players and a winning formula behind a great defensive coach and the best up-and-down tandem in the NBA, why are we looking like the 1989 Celtics? There are a lot of good and hungry teams in the West, and without that raucous Staples crowd and the Kobe-esque energy there to keep a fire in our players' hearts, I can't say that I have an abundance of faith early on in this "NBA restart".

Nevertheless, we stay TrueFans. :LOBtrophy:

Yeah Dame is a Laker killer but we will get by them. That whole team would really have to play out their ass to beat us 4 out of 7.

We played like that vs the Raptors too but like Ken said these last few games are meaningless. The 1989 Celtics :roflmao:, I love it.

I still stand by, it will come down to us and the Clippers in the WCFinals. I tell you who looks great right now is the Pacers in the East, they are deep and TJ Warren looks like a Superstar! Oladipo looks healthy too. Everyone is saying the Bucks but don't sleep on Indy. They are rolling and Sabonis hasn't even played yet. Turner even looks great.
