Final Roster Cut(s)

The Lakers are now down to 16 players, having waivde Jonathan Holmes today. It sounds like both he and Michael Frazier will be playing for the D-Fenders. As for Robert Upshaw, from everything I have read I would prefer it if he would find himself elsewhere. It is going to take him a long time to be NBA ready, if ever, and the baggage he brings isn't worth coddling him here.

As for the final cut(s), I would dispose of Sacre, whose 1M salary can be stretched over 3 seasons (big shit, especially considering the absurd cap increases). Kelly has shown enough in the preseason to stay and maybe he's ready to take that next step or perhaps he's shown other teams that he's worth a gamble on for trade bait. I wouldn't eat that salary if i were the FO. Jabari Brown is a one dimensional ballhog who we don't need, so it wouldn't bother me at all if we disposed of him and kept a roster spot open. The only problem with that is Clarkson's injury, but we have Kobe, Nick and Lou to man the #2 position and if we keep MWP, which we should simply for work ethic purposes to tutor the infants, there's enough flexibility at small forward.

So dump Sacre and J brown and keep a roster spot open. That's what i think.

P.S.- Nuggz, can we please add a button for tweets? Thanks.

Insult to injury. Do we retain Metta?

I wouldn't mind seeing Sacre or Kelly gone or even both. Both are just bad players.

Sacre plays solid D. Bad on O.
Kelly plays solid O. Bad defensively.

Kelly has more use than Sacre. Both have more on the court use than Metta.

Disagree. GIve me 10 minutes of Metta on the court (never mind his practice and off the court value) over 10 minutes of court time of either one of those soon to be ex-NBA players. Never mind the fact that the only other true small forward on the team is Anthony Brown, a second round rookie.

HAVING SAID THAT, Kelly > Sacre.

I see Sacre skipping around the paint like a 7ft. bunny rabbit, looking for chances to touch the ball on offense and disrupt shots on defense. I know he's a warm bucket of spit. But in my observations of Kelly, what am I seeing? Does he have a skill set? Strengths? Specialties? I'm trying to find where he fits specifically in our rotation, as an asset that can be counted on game in and game out. 3pt. threat? Can he consistently create his own shot? Is his defense anything to savor? Help me here.

Seems like this season, Scott and the brass want a 10/6/6 type game from DLoading
Not 20/10

Which is a good thing

D-lo might not even be in the rotation to start the season.
