Notable potential 2018 Free Agents:
Player Option:
LeBron James
Kevin Durant
Paul George
DeAndre Jordan
Unrestricted:
Chris Paul
DeMarcus Cousins
Isaiah Thomas
Restricted:
Aaron Gordon
Clint Capela
Early Termination Option:
Carmelo Anthony
Players I don't want:
LeBron - Just . . no. Not now, not ever.
Durant - He needs to stay in Oakland/SF.
Paul - Don't need him, not the guy.
Gordon - We have players like him already.
Capela - see Gordon.
Anthony - He's done, retire already.
Players who juuuust miiight work:
George - He'd bench our youngsters, but he's a star.
Cousins - I don't like the attitude but he's a solid big.
Jordan - Youngish and coachable. I'd take him.
Thomas - we'll see if he can find a place for himself.
Acquiring PG and Boogie would make us an instant lock for the playoffs every year, but one or more of our young stars will have to become a bonafide NBA star in order to secure a spot in the Conference Finals. If Lonzo can learn to feed superstars, and Ingram, Randle and Kuzma can fill in the gaps on offense and defense, we'll have a young, experienced and potent fast-paced team that would be a handful for anybody.
JUST DO IT MITCH---- UHHH MEAN ROB!! AND MAGIC!!

I don't want LeBron either, he is still Great don't get me wrong but I want young guys! Give me Paul George who is only 27. He can play the 3 and Ingram the 2. We still need a Center if we release Brook. Randle and Kuzma are 4's, Good 4's but they are not Centers.

From everything I have read, bigs will be cheap this summer. Brook Lopez is an unrestricted free agent and it would not bother me at all if he wanted to come back on a relatively cheap contract. He is imperfect, but still a nice player who has played in Luke's system and there's something to be said for continuity. He's a great locker room guy, too. He may not want to return because his minutes have been reduced in Luke's system, but good luck finding a team who will play him 30-35 mpg. Also, I don't know why Lakers fans have given up on Ivica Zubac. Young centers take time time develop and he is only 21. I thought he looked solid against OKC the other night in his limited minutes. Thomas Bryant is a young modern day center who I think is 2 years away from significant minutes. I just hope that PG signs here this summer. If he does, others will flock here.

Honestly, most Laker fans don't think past the starting 4 and whoever makes 5. Too busy being spoon-fed ESPN and other sports media gossip that is 90% hot air and 10% redeemable facts. Entertainment and sensationalization of trivial things dominate when you're not knee-deep in title runs. Gotta keep the faith, stay grounded in the business side off the court and the Xs and Os on the court and be glad that WE ARE NOW READY TO RE-ENTER THE PLAYOFFS!!!

It just dawned on me after watching the All-Star Game. Paul George ain't going nowhere and if LeBron goes anywhere, it will be to one of the elite teams. We'll re-sign Randle and punt again, overpaying a couple of above average veterans to one year deals like we did this season. It is possible that there is a Kyrie Irving or Paul George situation where some great player demands a trade and the cap space can be used that way, but I'm not holding my breath.
Magic Johnson apparently thinks that he can pull off that which Mitch Kupchak was unable to do, but I believe he's in for a rude awakening. These superstars all have houses here and don't need the Lakers for their brands. You can only judge a trade in hindsight, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if we look back at disposing of Clarkson and Nance as a mistake. They are both 25 with more experience than the remaining core, except Randle, who plays like more of a veteran than Kuzma, Ingram and Lonzo. Yes, we have a bright future, but I don't believe it starts in the 2018-19 season.
Sorry for the buzz kill.
