Key headlines so far in this seasons NBA:

-Clippers have lost 9 straight games and are now 5-11. They look like toast! Lakers are actually in 2nd place in our Division at 7-10 only behind the Warriors. Ball already has 2 TDB's for the Lakers on the season.

-Celtics just won their 16th straight game to go to 16-2, Kyrie Irving scored 47 points tonight. Even without Hayward they look like the real deal unfortunately.

-Pacers have shocked a lot of people and are playing well without Paul George on the Roster. They just won their 4th straight game to improve to 10-8. Victor Oladipo is playing like an All-Star and that is a very unselfish team. Turner and Sabonis have provided a tall frontline and Bogdanovic is one of the best 3point shooters in the league. If the season ended today they would make the Playoffs.

-Cavs are struggling so far at 10-7 on the season. That is a pretty old team that plays very little Defense but they still have the LeBron factor. It's early in the season but I wouldn't be shocked if the Celtics win the East this season. Celtics have their SuperStar in Irving (need at least 1 to win it all), the best Coach in the league IMO, and 4 solid Role Players in Horford, Brown, Smart, and Tatum. - Horford is basically an All-Star.

-Warriors and Rockets are in a nice battle for best record in the West, both are at 13-4. I still cant see anyone beating the Warriors 4 times in a series come May and June if they stay healthy.

A blow to the Clips, bigger obviously than the Heyward loss for the Celts. An even bigger loss for the NBA, as Beverly is a highlight-reel regular and a great competitior. He's young, he'll be back. Maybe not as aggressive. Get well!

Los Angeles Lakers 2018 Salary Cap Numbers/Projections Explained in Full Detail

Brook Lopez: (33,963,525 cap hold)
KCP: (21,295,073 cap hold)
Luol Deng: 18,000,000
Corey Brewer: (14,400,795 cap hold)
Jordan Clarkson: 12,500,000
Julius Randle: (12,447,726 cap hold)
Lonzo Ball: 7,461,960
Brandon Ingram: 5,757,120
Tyler Ennis: 1,656,092 (non-guaranteed until 7/6/18)
Larry Nance Jr: 2,272,391
Kyle Kuzma: 1,689,840
Josh Hart: 1,655,160
Iviva Zubca: 1,544,951 (non-guaranteed)
Andrew Bogut: (1,449,698 cap hold)
Thomas Bryant: 1,378,242 (non-guaranteed)
Draft Pick: 831,311 (2nd round pick, minimum)

Team Salary: 137,472,573
Salary Cap: 101,000,000 (projection)
Cap Space: -37,303,884

Paul George’s Max: 30,300,000 (projection, 30% of cap)

To Open Enough Space for George: Lakers must renounce rights to Lopez, KCP, and Brewer. Renouncing those players gives Lakers 32,355,509 in cap space. Signing George to max leaves LA with 2,055,509 in cap space.

LeBron Max: 35,350,000 (projection, 35% of cap)

To Open Enough Space for George and LeBron: Currently impossible at both players max. Lakers must renounce Randle’s, Bogut’s rights. Bringing cap space to 15,121,622. Lakers must trade Deng’s contract. Stretching Deng leaves Lakers with 25,088,311 in cap space. Need 10,261,689 more.

DeMarcus Cousin Max: 30,300,000 (projection, 30% of cap)

To Open Enough Space for George and Cousins, instead of LeBron: Lakers must renounce Randle, Bogut’s rights. Bringing cap space to 15,121,622. Stretching Deng brings Lakers space to 25,088,311. Lakers could waive Ennis, Zubac, and Bryant. That creates 27,173,663 in space. Lakers are 3,126,337 short. Cousins (or George) must take discount to make work. Or Lakers must trade Deng or someone else.

Remember when calculating these numbers in offseason you must charge the team’s salary the rookie minimum every roster spot you go under 12. So for example, if you have only 11 players under contract you must charge the team salary 831,311(2018-19 rookie minimum) one time until they get back at 12. Many people are unaware of this when calculating numbers. Also a cap hold is what allows a team most of their ability to resign player over cap. To lose hold, you must renounce player’s rights. Which you will lose most of your ability to resign player over cap.

I guess LeBron truly believes that he's a King. Why does he "need" answers about Fizdale's firing? If he gets the right answers, is he going to demand that Dan Gilbert fire Ty Lue and hire Fiz?

I am watching the Celtics/Sixers and it is scary how much farther along just those 2 young teams are ahead of us. Man Ben Simmons is really Good. The Celtics may win the East even without Hayward. Imagine had we kept Lou Williams and signed a guy like Redick how much better we would be right now to go with our young guys? Both those guys can shoot 3's with the best of them too. I would almost bet if we had those 2 players we would be 4 or 5 games better. Redick chose the Sixers in Free Agency, he could've went anywhere. I wonder why he chose them?

Understand that the Celtics started their rebuild at a time when we decided to re-sign Kobe to that contract. Our salary cap restraints and lack of assets precluded us from starting any kind of rebuild until the Randle/Clarkson draft in 2014 at a time when Mitch and Jim thought that stars would come here because we're the Lakers. The new reality (i.e., bad timing with their plan) is that this generation of players could care less where they play as long as it is for a winner. Other than the really stupid and greedy (trying to save their jobs) signings of Mozgov and Deng (which were REALLY stupid), the Lakers have done a very admirable job of rebuilding since 2014, some of the best scouting in the league. We are a couple of years behind them, but the reality is that the Sixers drafted Embiid (2014) and Simmons (2016) ahead of us, so we can't have them. Simply put, their program is ahead of ours because they were stinkier than us. As for the Chowds, they started their rebuild in the summer of 2013, but did it by foisting KG and Paul Pierce on the stupid Nyets, gathering assets, drafting well, hiring a young head coach to establish an identity and continuity and making smart trades once they had the assets. Danny Ainge is brilliant and Sam Hinkie's "Process" worked in Philly. Considering the discombobulation in our front office, we aren't doing too bad. With a little luck, we're 3-4 years away.

I think we should pretty much keep everyone of importance and Magic just needs to either pickup a couple of solid Role Players that can shoot 3's in Free Agency, God I miss Lou Williams! or pickup 1 SuperStar to play with youngsters. Paul George would be ideal, he scored 36 last night in a win over Minny and has looked better than ever in OKC. OKC isn't winning much right now which is puzzling but he has played Great Offensively and Defensively.

-Randle is expendable IMO if need be because of we have Kuzma who has been the steal of the Draft for a foot note. I want to keep Clarkson as he gives us Good scoring and he drives to the basket well which creates for others.

Randle is not expendable! He's a young scrapper who is still working hard to grow his game! Remember how hard he studied when he missed his rookie season?? He loves the Lakers and we better start treating him like a Rambis, Mychal Thompson or Horace Grant if we're smart! He could be a key piece of a playoff team!

The 6-foot-8 power forward shot an effective 9-of-13 from the floor and got the scrap buckets when they counted most against a Warriors team that refused to let go of the rope.
