Roger Federer Turns 36 Today

I felt he deserved his own topic today, whether or not anyone replies to it. He is without question the greatest tennis player of all-time and we have witnessed his entire ride!

I have never done a Top 5 players Tennis list, this is interesting. I would put Roger #1 but Pete Sampras is arguably like 1B. Back in the day Borg was a bad dude as well. Nadal is no slouch either!

Got to see my brother last week, and caught up on a lot of sports talk. His opinion is that Federer is one of the greatest athletes in sports history. Those who follow tennis more than I do probably feel the same. Wonder if he'd kick Bjorn, Jimmy and Jim's asses in their primes.

My Top 5 would be:
1. Roger Federer
2. Pete Sampras
3. Bjorn Borg
4. Rafael Nadal
5. John McEnroe, I liked him better than Jimmy Connors. I know I am probably leaving out someone from the 50's or 60's that was ridiculously great but Tennis is one-on-one and players from the 80's and on were just better IMO. Faster serves, stronger, better athletes.

-Connors won 8 Majors, McEnroe 7 but head to head McEnroe is 20-14 vs Connors so he gets my nod for #5.

I do want to add, Majors are a lot of the tell all in Tennis because it is one on one action but by my eye test Nadal wasn't better than Sampras or Borg. All 3 played in different era's so its real debatable to who was better out of these 3 of course. Nadal has 15 Majors to Sampras's 14 but Sampras owned Wimbledon. Borg at one time looked like the best that ever was. He was like a robot playing Tennis. Borg won 11 Majors in his playing days which is nothing to sneeze at!

Hated him when he beat Sampras in his last major (his first I believe). But like Bird I must respect what he's accomplished
