I'm very excited about this. He seems like exactly the type of player the Lakers need in the backcourt with Lonzo. Plays solid D and can shoot the 3. The starting 5 is super athletic:

c- Lopez
pf- Randle*
sf- Ingram
sg- KCP
pg- Lonzo

With the rumors swirling that we might sign Rondo with that 4.3 Room Exception, the bench would be:

c- Zubac/T Bryant (maybe)
pf- Nance/Kuzma
sf- Brewer/Deng
sg- Clarkson/Hart/Nwaba
pg- Rondo (if he signs)/ maybe Tyler Ennis at the minimum

That adds up to 16 players, so Bryant may sign one of those new two way contracts. We have enough "bigs" in Randle/Nance/Kuzma to play small ball center anyway.

 Above Average player (borderline Good) that is a team player and only 24 so thumbs up. He basically has close to the same stats Russell had last season is what is funny so by getting him we get Russell back in a way :roflmao: and gained Lopez and got rid of Mozgov's contract.

MUCH more athletic than Russell, NOT as good a scorer, MUCH MUCH better defensive player, PURE shooting guard, NOT a playmaker, NOT a ball dominant guard like DAR. This is a much better fit for Lonzo and allows Clarkson to come off the bench. I believe that both Clarkson and Russell might still be traded. Here's one I came up with. In this scenario, the Lakers also get a #1 pick. They can waive and stretch Robin Lopez after next season, or even trade him. That will free up the cap space that Magic needs for next summer.

Yeah I like Pope, so far what grade would you give Magic and Rob? We got rid of Mozgov's contract in a trade with Russell + picked up Lopez = a Good quality Center. We Drafted Lonzo and Kuzma, I like what I see out of Kuzma, we held firm not trading for PG-13 and now just signed Pope to only a 1 Year deal.

It's becoming crystal clear that Magic has taken the franchise on his shoulders and is forging a path to success. A chess match that he learned from Jerry, Mitch and other NBA movers and shakers. It's a whole new era in LakerLand!

Also, to clarify, he's actually a better playmaker than I thought. This is a worthwhile viewing of what he brings on offense. I will post this guy's breakdown on what he brings on defense.

Nice pay day. If he has a great season, he sets himself up for a nice long term deal. Win-win.

I suppose that's a sign that 1) he's kind of worth it(?) and 2) we're not dropping big $$ on any other youngsters anytime soon.

1) We had the money, but MagicRob want the cap space next summer to potentially pursue 2 max FAs.
2) If he's a perfect fit with Lonzo, maybe we keep him on a long term deal instead of 2 FAs (just PG and another nice FA).
3) His reps reached out to the Lakers first; same guys who represent LeBron.

The shoe fits.

I have to admit I haven't been this excited in a long time. Ever since Magic and Rob took over I cant see 1 bad move they have made. Drafting Lonzo was the right move (I think he and Fox are the 2 best players in this Draft but Lonzo is a Cali guy so the pick was going to happen). We traded D'Angelo Russell for Brook Lopez and got rid of Mozgov's contract, thank you Magic because I was just never a believer in Russell. We signed KCP to only a 1 year deal which is safe and he is a Good player. Drafting Kuzma could be a steal as well, he looks really good.
