Non-playoff teams can make deals. Who would do this?

Man I would love to get rid of Deng. I am not a huge fan of Anthony at this stage in his career but if we can get rid Deng's contract and get 2 great years out of Anthony I would probably do it. Anthony is still a Top 10 player Offensively too. I like Clarkson but I don't think he and Russell mesh well, that has been a problem from day 1 when we drafted Russ. That is why I wanted Okie LOL, but if we trade Clarkson maybe that will even open up Russell's game more??

I think it's a fair deal for both teams. The Knicks might want a pick, too, given the lengths of Deng's vs. Melo's contracts, but I wouldn't offer more than a second. Clarkson has a good contract by today's standards.

I agree, they would be getting a Good young player in Clarkson and we would at least in return be getting a guy that is Top 10 Offensively and probably is still a Top 25 player in the league with 2 or 3 years of Very Good play at worse. We also shed Deng. My thinking is, Russell might be a better player if Clarkson isn't on the Roster. I think they have bad chemistry but Clarkson is Good and they play the same position so that is why. I just have never liked both being on the team because of chemistry. It just boils down to, does one think Russell can have a better career than Clarkson and if so use Clarkson for tradebait then to get someone Good at a different position.

Also if we did that trade, imagine if we signed George in the summer of 2018. We would have a Roster of Russ, Ingram, Randle, Nance, Zubac + Melo and George. Me thinks that is a Playoff team in 2019 if Russ and Ingram really pan out!

The fact that Phil went public with this, while also saying he wants a "significant player" in return, will lower Melo's value IMO. We'll see what happens.

A no-brainer, and something we may likely see, what with the chaos in NY. Melo can go where he wants, and I'm sure Jeannie and Phil can work something out despite their recent distance.

Melo can control his destination. He must be sick of losing. He'll force his way on to a team that can compete. It wouldn't shock me to see him on the Bucks next season with all their budding young stars. The Chowds are an obvious place for him, too.

Not a bad Melo fake trade article, but once again it's from a fan's perspective. Is fan short for fantasy by any chance? Actually, it's basically the same concept I thought of as soon as Phil told the world he's available.

If I want an old star...its Wade.

I can see
Russell
Wade
Ingram
Randle
Nance

Clarkson
Jodie Meeks
Nwaba
Deng
Zubac

I like your thinking, but if the Bulls knock off the Chowds, they'll all return to Chicago, including Rondo. Wade will spend the rest of his career in Chi-Town, return to the Heat or chase rings.

Rondo out for probably the series, broken thumb on his shooting hand. It wouldn't shock me if the Chowds still win this series.

Now that Bird is gone, Randle and Clarkson and our Pick if we keep it for George may be possible. With Bird in Indy, I think he wouldn't of done a deal without Ingram involved. Pritchard isn't Bird! but he would want that pick if a rebuild is to take place in Indy. If that deal got done, we would still have as starters:
Russell
Ingram at the 2 which would be a nice spot with him playing with George
George
Nance
Zubac

-That is why keeping that pick may be huge because of any kind trade leverage that could give us.
