Should the Lakers trade for George this summer?

Postby 3Peatkb24 » Tue Feb 28, 2017 1:04 pm

or should they wait and hope George doesn't get traded by the end of the 2018 Season and sign him through Free Agency? George may not be there at the end of the 2018 Season is the problem. I think Bird would want Brandon Ingram in the deal which is another problem because I really don't want the Lakers to trade him. I can see Bird wanting Ingram, Randle, and Clarkson. Ingram's potential is through the roof and Randle and Clarkson would be Great Role players on a good team. I doubt Bird would want Russell because he has Teague. Ingram has George potential IMO.

The Pacers would still be a Playoff team if they got Ingram, Randle, and Clarkson in return because Teague is Good and Turner is Very Good. Bird probably knows Ingram Is the key to that trade though. Randle and Turner would be a perfect fit as well because Turner is a Very Good Defender and add Ingram at the 3 = not too bad. Where we benefit is, we would add a SuperStar and others may come at that point. George would improve us by 10 wins or so + a backcourt of Russell and Ball for example is pretty damn good to go with George. Russell can play the 2 if need be but so can Ball, they could interchange. Nance is more than capable to start at PF and I like Zubac in the middle. I really hope we can draft Ball.

I think it should be a consideration if, and only if, we keep our draft pick AND he agrees to sign with us long term. Otherwise, if he signals a 100% desire to sign with us in 2018, then WAIT. BUT, it has to be the equivalent of a commitment.

I would NOT give up the farm for him because the Pacers will have little leverage.

Yeah I really wouldn't want to part ways with Ingram but I almost know that is who Bird would want along with at least 1 or 2 other players. If we trade for George he needs to at least sign for 4 years.

Julius and the 27th pick is more than enough. PG will walk anyway and I'd rather have the kids grow together and then have him come. I'm in no rush.

BTW, Isaiah Thomas is also a UFA in 2018, and with Magic now running things, he may want to come here. This summer is a snoozer, but 2018 ....

George HAS to stay, no more rentals or "taking chances". And if you believe the rumors he wants to be here - his bank account and STAR will rise in La La Land (yes, even under the Moonlight) and hey, I like the guy which means a lot to me.

Trust the process (ha ha ha #Philly). Let's keep the young core intact. Then add key veteran free agents that fit into our young squad. Don't just bring in free agents just to bring in a free agent
