It's tough to Repeat but if someone gave you 4 to 1 odds that it wont happen would you put 10,000 on it? If you win, you win 40,000 if it happens.

I don't see them getting as lucky as they did in the WS . . the season was so long and in the MLB playoffs so many things can happen. Maybe if they come in as "underdogs" it'll spur them to fight harder and get the Pennant again. Of course I'd love for my Dodgers to finally burst through - I really thought it was their time last year, but we'll see. One thing's for sure, no more Curses!

I honestly think the Cubs have no pressure on them now so they will play a lot looser. I noticed at times they played tight last season in the Playoffs. They had so much pressure on them to win the WS because of the 108 yr curse and they did have the best team. They are now playing with house money for a change and although I don't see them winning 103 games again, they could still very easily win near 100 and cruise once the Playoffs start. They know how to win big games now, they faced Bumgarner/Giants, Kershaw/Dodgers, and an Indians team that had HFA that were playing out of their ass. They have seen it all now. I think they can Repeat but nobody has since the 2000 Yankees which was a 3Peat so the odds are against them. That is the reason why I posed the question would you guys lay 10,000 to win 40,000 on the Cubs Repeating. I probably wouldn't but I would lay $100 to win $400 on them doing it without hesitation. 10,000 is a little much for my budget :roflmao:

I think the Yankees will be good actually. They had some good moments last season and finished above .500. I know it's not what you or Ken are used too but the Yankees aren't that far off. I am sort of indebted to the Yankees now since you guys gave us Chapman for a bag of chips for 1 year. I don't think we pull it off without him. He was really great for the most part, Maddon wore him down toward the end but other than 1 HR he gave up he was damn near perfect in every big moment. Even after the HR in the 8th, he pitched the 9th Inning in that Game 7 and got the Cubs to the 10th where they won it.

They hadn't won in over 100 years so they kind of were flying below the radar. Let's see how they handle having a target on their back. I'd bet against them.

If it was just an even bet I wouldn't bet that they will Repeat. In Baseball it is really tough but if someone gave me 4 to 1 odds I might throw 1 or $200 down on it. I think the RedSox, Indians, Dodgers, and Giants will all be capable of beating them. Cubs got lucky to win but they did have the best team IMO so luck tends to happen when you have a team that is better than everyone, I think they can play better in the Playoffs. The 2000 Lakers got pushed to 7 games vs Portland and was down big in Game 7, they came back and won. In 2001, the Lakers coasted in the Regular Season and then killed everyone in the Playoffs. Cubs are young and talented and battle tested now. It wouldn't shock me if they only won 90 games but made the Playoffs and ran through everyone in the Playoffs. Not saying it will happen but it wouldn't shock me.
