3Peat's 5 main possible reasons why the Lakers will be a Playoff team in 2018 - LOOKING AHEAD
5. It will be the 3rd season that Russell, Randle, Nance, and Clarkson have all played together. The Chemistry will be Good!
4. The emergence of Zubac will give the Lakers an inside presence they haven't had in a while. Look out in season 2.
3. Luke Walton's Coaching, he will have a season under his belt as Lakers Coach.
2. Brandon Ingram will emerge and be a dangerous 20 Point scorer a night type of player in season 2.
1. Season 3 will be Russell's 1st breakout season. He will play like an All-Star.

I don't know about 5 or 4, but certainly a LOT of 3, a little of 2 and plenty of 1.

The thing is, we may not (in our entitled and star-starved eyes) feel the team is capable of achieving 45-50 wins, but it doesn't matter what we think. It never has. The only difference is we are witnessing a changing of the guard in Laker Land, a naturally forced youth movement that rejects the old ways of success and will eventually chisel its own statue and seek to hang its own banners. It may not look like Showtime or Kobe/Shaq or even Kobe/Gasol/Odom, but it will rise to the greatness we know is inevitable. Until this Kobe-less re-boot falls flat and fails to pan-out into a playoff contender, I will continue to have faith, belief and the truest of fanhood for Jeannie, Jim, Mitch, Luke, Brian and the whole franchise.
