GAME PREVIEW: QUEENS AT LAKERS

by Eric Yee, lakeshowlife.com

The long offseason is finally over. Here is everything you need to know about the Los Angeles Lakers’ first preseason game against the Sacramento Kings

For months fans have been counting down the days until the start of the 2016-17 season, and though we are still a little over three weeks away from Opening Night, October 4 represents the start of a new era for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Kobe Bryant may have played his last game for the Purple and Gold back in April, but Tuesday night will be the first game the franchise will truly be without their dark knight in shining armor. However, the team must be commended for their efforts to replace the irreplaceable.

Armed with a young core of D’Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson, Julius Randle and new addition, Brandon Ingram, Los Angeles looks to prove their doubters wrong from the get go.

News out of training camp have the youngsters out to a strong start but Tuesday night will give fans a better idea of what to expect for the season moving forward.

The latest reports have Coach Luke Walton yet to decide on a starting lineup for the preseason opener, which could suggest that Brandon Ingram has done enough in just one week of training camp to show his new coach that he’s worthy of a starting position.

Of course, there are also a series of other possibilities that could account for Walton’s change of heart, but this one seems to make sense all things considered.

Tarik Black, baby. A Luke guy. Yi with very little burn tonight. Calderon's a pro's pro. The toddlers are playing like toddlers.

Of course, none of this matters, but it's nice to watch some Purple & Gold hoops again!

Lakers playing well tonight. Up 90-75 late in the 4th. The youngsters have kind of struggled but it's game 1 of the pre-season. Are you guys watching the Clippers at Warriors? I know it's only pre-season but the starters are playing for both teams and the Warriors are up 89-38 late in the 3rd Qtr. Clippers have played their starters all game. This isn't even fair, Warriors are going to sleep walk their way to wins this season and run away with the championship if they stay healthy. Durant, Curry, and Thompson just raining 3's!

Yeah Black has 15 Points so does Sweet Lou! It's good to have guy like Lou that can score when Russell does struggle. Lakers are going to win this up 94-80 with 2 minutes to go.

99-80 Lakers now with a minute to go. Regarding Lou, he has a great knack of getting to the line which is another plus. He is a solid bench player! Nice win tonight eventhough it's just pre-season.

Lakers win 103-84! Kings even played Cousins for a while and some other starters.

Off the top of my head, I hope that the 5 guys to get cut are Travis Wear, Nick Young, MWP, Zach Auguste and Julian Jacobs. I realize that the team would be a little "big" heavy, but so what. Having Russell, Huertas, Calderon, Clarkson, Williams, Deng, Ingram and Brown would give us plenty of guards and wings. Yi looked like a stiff who was asleep tonight, but he didn't play much. I don't see how you can cut Thomas Robinson, who could very well come into his own this season, especially after finishing last season strong, plus he now knows how to play in this league and he's only 25 and a former #4 pick. But who knows. It's early.

Yeah I have think about who I would cut but I pretty much agree with you. Wear, Young, and Jacobs definitely need to go. Not sure about Ronny and Auguste? I would really love to see Young get cut. I just don't think he is good anymore and he clowns around too much.

I think Ingram, Russell and Randle truly learning the game will happen as the season progresses.

Mosgov's health is important as well as Deng.

Anthony Brown hitting shots was good to see

Russell, Brown, Deng, Randle , Mosgov
Clarkson, Lou, Ingram, Nance , Tarik

Jose, Clarkson, Ingram, Deng, Nance

Good for this young squad with its young first year coach to get their first win right away in their first game together. Getting off on the right foot and starting good winning habits is good to see.

I don't think there is any question about that. Impossible to pre-judge them.

This is going to be an exciting season to watch and follow! Cant wait to see the ups and downs of the season (hopefully more ups), how the young guys progress, and watch Luke Coach em! I thought we played a great 2nd Half last night.

Consider this... A 5th year starter is usually still viewed as a young player.

Think about Bron in 2011, still needed to sharpen his game.

In 2 years Randle, Russell and Ingram will be used to the league.
