Pretty cool he would include Russell in that group. Seems Russell might be gaining a little respect around the league. I sure hope he has a breakout season for the Lakers sake.

Nah, Eric Bledsoe and Darren Collison are the only ones he didn't mention. Probably forgot.

The most beautiful basketball I ever watched was the 1969-70 Knicks and the 1976-77 Portland Trail Blazers (and the Showtime Lakers, of course). Even during Showtime, however, the 3 point shot did not take over the game, nor did it with Phil Jackson's Bulls and Lakers, the triangle being aesthetically pleasing to the eye because of the purity it brought to the game.

I'm glad Pop went on this rant. I agree.

I think the ShowTime Lakers was the most entertaining Basketball I have ever seen. The Lakers between 1984-1989 when they had Magic and Worthy dead smack in their primes was awesome on that fastbreak. Also had the Coop a Loop and a dominant Center to boot in Kareem! I don't mind the 3Point shot being the main reason why a team dominates though like the Warriors eventhough I am still more of an oldschool guy and love having a dominant Center. Having a Wilt, Kareem, or Shaq and playing inside/out is still my kind of ball for the most part. Having said that this Warriors team is fun to watch and as long as they stop LeBron from winning it's all good. As a guy who relied on the 3point shot a lot when I played in Highschool and the playgrounds, I respect a player like Curry who has perfected it. Durant and Thompson are deadly from 3 as well. Don't let the Warriors fool ya though, they can play inside with Green and as funny as it sounds Javale McGee can burn teams inside. McGee was killing the Spurs because they were so worried about the Warriors shooting. David West still has some piss and vinager too inside. To me that team has 0 weaknesses.

Worst post season ever.

When Lakers went 15- 1 they came from behind a few times against opponents who were worthy.

The 2011 CBA was all about "parity." All it did was destroy the Lakers and create super teams.

It helped Cleveland and Boston in the East, and tried to flip the West like an over-hard fried egg - which resulted in the Lakers hitting rock bottom while our perennial Pacific punching bags the Clips and Dubs became good and great. I don't mind the Warriors achieving NBA glory - I can attest firsthand that their fan base and the Bay Area hoops scene in general needed this very badly. It's become a multi-cultural and multi-generational phenomenon, and Curry will become the Warriors' version of "don't go" Kobe when his career comes to a close. It'll be interesting to see how long they can keep their Big Four together.

I agree that this year's playoffs tended to resemble the WNBA (no disrespect, ladies - just saying), but the payoff of a Finals rematch will make up for it as long as nobody crucial gets injured.

Yeah this sucks but I am still not sold the Clippers can build a Championship team. That core they have has failed miserably in the Playoffs.

Man I hate LeBron, well hate is a strong word but I dislike him bigtime anyway. I just think he is one of the biggest cry babies this league has ever had and when he joined Wade in Miami along with Bosh it made me want to puke. That was such a weak move. If we do get him I would have to live with it but it wont guarantee us a Championship so I am not going to jump for joy either. LeBron has lost Finals with tons of talent on his team like this season and in 2011 and 2014. He just doesn't do it for me like Magic did or that Jordan did, I couldn't stand Jordan but I almost felt like he would never lose in the Finals. Same for Magic actually, Magic has lost in the Finals but he is still 5-4 which is a lot better than 3-5. Arguably LeBron could be 2-6 had it not been for Ray Allen saving his ass in 2013. Magic was injured in 1989 so he is really 5-3 when healthy.
