What about Jesse Owens? Carl Lewis? Dave DeBusschere? (kidding!)

Yes, Jim Thorpe was without question a great all around athlete, but he lived in a different time. Sure, you can say the same about Babe Ruth, but he was as dominant a pitcher as he was a hitter and nobody even came close to his career stats when he was finished. The Babe would have excelled in any era because of his natural talent and hand eye coordination. You are right that this is virtually an impossible "list" to create because the criteria is too vague. If you want to look at it from the perspective of who distances themselves from the rest of the pack in their respective sports statistically and adjust it for era, I suppose it becomes a little easier, but even then it's tough.

Babe by most is still known as the greatest Baseball player ever so that says a lot for someone that played in the 20's and 30's. Roy Hobbs struck him out on 3 pitches though :roflmao: Just kidding! but yeah this list can be different in many ways depending on the criteria used.

I read the article and read the list. How on God's green earth is Peyton Manning's 2013 Season not on that list? He threw for 55 TD's and 5,477 Yards - 2 records that will never be broken and the Broncos even got to the SB by beating the Patriots. They had LeBron listed for 2013 instead = WRONG, LeBron didn't break any records that season. LeBron is on that list twice and 1 of them is even a season he didn't win it all - 2010?? Several other athlete's are on this list that didn't win a Championship in certain seasons as well like Earl Campbell and OJ so not listing Peyton's 2013 Season seems odd. Aaron Rodgers 2011 Season was on it and GB lost to the Giants early in the Playoffs that season and his Stats don't even compare to Peyton's 2013 Season. I think the dude had a brain fart. Where is Eric Dickerson's 1984 Season? He should've at least been tied with Carl Lewis. Dick set the record for most Rushing Yards in an NFL Season with 2105, a record that still hasn't been broken!
