Tate

Out of the players I have seen live basically since the late 70's, who I think belong in the Great category, do you think these guys belong ahead of Bird? Just a question.

Floor players:
1. Jordan
2. Magic
3. Kobe
4. LeBron
5. Doctor J
6. Wade
7. I will just stick Worthy in here since I am a Laker homer. Cant help it. His TDB in Game 7 of the Finals in 88 was unreal!

Big's
1. Kareem
2. Shaq
3. Duncan
4. Hakeem
5. Moses
6. KMalone
7. Barkley
8. Dirk
-To me these are the elite of the elite since the late 70's until now that I have seen. I gave you 8 floor players including Bird and 8 Big's for a Sweet 16 regarding players that have played since the late 70's into the 80's to now in 2016. I left out Isiah Thomas as another Floor player so it's a Sweet 17, his Pistons used to kick Jordan's Bulls asses :waaaaa: or Reggie Miller's 3 Point shooting!!

I cant even really disagree with you here. Damn Tate, you showed Birdpoop mad respect finally. I thought you would bury him because I displayed a bunch of Great players. Hey, I am glad you are posting again and sometimes I may say shit that is a little out of line at times but I know you are a great guy and you are my debate friend :roflmao:. I was hoping you wouldn't leave because the shit would be dull in here without you! By the way I am proud of LeBron, he was a one man wrecking crew in this Finals series! I know all-time you have Elgin, Wilt , and West ahead of Bird too but that is all-time so basically you would have Bird at 11th it looks like which is respectable. Would you place Bird over Russell? or Big O? I am drifting off in your territory now . I still cant believe that the Warriors could blow a 3-1 lead in the Finals with HCA, it makes me go

It makes me SMH when listening to BSPN type. They already forgot Kobe played basketball in the Lebrons era!!! A couple of them started listing off the best players ever and didn't even come to Kobe in their top 20, they did off their head. It is one of the reasons I hate the WWE quality of the NBA these days.

Nuggs, just ignore it. LeBron is awesome but he isn't better than Kobe or Magic or Jordan. I knew this was coming by many newtorks if he won is why I didn't want to him to win.

Here's probably the accurate list out of the players I have seen live. I will let Tate insert Wilt, Elgin, West, Big-O, and Russell
1. Jordan/ and I know Tate has Kobe #1 but these are just my opinions.
2. Magic
3. Kareem
4. Kobe
5. LeBron
6. Shaq
7. Duncan
8. Bird
-Tate insert where Wilt, Elgin, West, Big-O, and Russell should go and adjust this list. I will say this, Hakeem cant be ignored either but I think we agree Bird is 8th out of who I have seen in my era = basically since the mid 80's when I was in Highschool to now. I cant even debate with you anymore after what I seen last night, I am out of gas :silly3:

I think Wilt, West, Baylor and Oscar all go above Bird. Russell was, basically, a one-trick-pony. Defense (2 tricks, if you count rebounding). But, still, made more of a mark on the NBA than Bird. As for pure talent, I'd put Rick Barry, Pistol Pete and Drazen Petrovic over Bird, too.

When Reggie Miller was asked, who do you think the greatest shooter you have ever seen is? He said "Drazen Petrovic" What a shame he died in a car crash. That guy was unreal!

Great point. Elgin may have won 5 or 6.

Great post Nuggs and Tate! Great Stuff! Kareem's resume is the best of all-time IMO if you factor in all my criteria. That is why at worse he has to be Top 3. I just wonder if he would've won more than 2 or 3 Championships without Magic? I think Magic could've won without Kareem at least 3 given that he had a player like James Worthy.

tate793 wrote:Ok, Nuggs. I see what you're saying. Bird + HOFers is better than just Wilt. But, individually, Bird does not measure up to the most dominant force to ever lace em' up.

BTW - How're you doing?

Correct!

Doing mostly OK, but had EMS at my Council meeting the other night to do triage on another episode....................

Headed for Vail for a few days for a conference. I'll be glad to get outta the heat for a bit.

I will just leave it at - out of the players I have seen live since the late 70's = 1977-2016 to now (basically 40 years of Basketball):
1. Jordan
2. Magic
3. Kareem
4. Kobe
5. LeBron
6. Shaq
7. Duncan
8. Bird
9. Hakeem
10. is debatable. Moses probably belongs here but you could put Karl here or Doctor J. This is even a list Tate can live with LOL. I will give it to Moses at #10. Karl not winning a Championship is bothersome. He is the Dan Marino of Basketball.

Yeah I think this is probably pretty accurate considering criteria and eye test from who I have seen live. Not just trying to agree with you but that actually is a pretty great list :slamdunk: I wanted badly to put Karl at 10 because I am a huge fan of his but think Moses deserves it more. Moses 4-4-4.

It's an unfortunate fact that most "respected" NBA analysts will not have Kobe as high as 4 or 5. They find excuses to drop him below Duncan, Wilt, and now LeBron. And 9 times outta 10 they won't even have to give an explanation because they know that Kobe-Hater Nation will agree. We'll have to keep defending him till Armageddon, or this November's elections - whichever comes first. :goUSA:

Draymond Green :goofylaf: :Nutskick:

Rev, I have Kobe 4th at worse. The analysts can stick their lists up their butt! LeBron isn't better than Kobe. Now if he wins another Championship than it's more debatable. Overall Kobe is Top 5 even if you factor in players from the 50's/60's.

I know. He was the perfect PF. Cant believe he didn't win a Ring but he went against Michael. Jazz probably should've won in 1998 with HCA but their 97 team was better the way they were playing. When the Jazz got it at 2-2 and Game 5 at home they should've polished them off. Game 5 was the Jordan flu game. To the Jazz credit they still played great in Game 6 only losing 88-86 by a Steve Kerr Jumper.
