I am one of those rare guys that follow Baseball all season. The diehards do that, I keep an eye on the Cubs every day to see if they win or lose. I have always said Baseball really doesn't start until June though. April and May are feeling out months because it is such a long season. June is when teams start to show their true colors. As of now I am ok with the Cubs being 20-20, they are maintaining by playing .500 ball during these 1st 2 months and are within 2.5 games of 1st place in their division.
Here are the NL Central Standings through May 17th, 2021:
1. Cards 23-18
2. Brewers 21-20 (2 back)
3. Cubs 20-20 (2.5 back)
4. Reds 19-20 (3 back)
5. Pirates 17-23 (5.5 back)
As you can see there really isn't 1 team in the NL Central that is bad, it is very competitive. Even the Pirates don't stink
. The rest of the season is going to be interesting that is for sure.
As far as grade goes through 1/4 of the 162 game season, I give the Cubs a C. Not bad but not great, average.
