Very fun opening day. Cubs, Dodgers, and Yankees all rolled. I am so happy Kris Bryant is healthy again. Last season he wasn't and it screwed the Cubs down the stretch. He homered today and was making all kinds of plays. My WS pick this season is:

Astros vs Cubs. Astros will probably win it all, but to me when these 2 teams are healthy they are the best on paper. Redsox won't repeat, nobody does in todays league and the AL is loaded with the Astros and Yankees to block it. Seattle is even solid. Redsox had a special season like the Cubs did in 2016, they will not duplicate that. They will not be as hungry IMO. A lot of parity in the AL too. Astros and Yankees both are solid as I mentioned.

Yeah the Dodger fans booed Zach Greinke and the players smacked him around for a bunch of runs. I have a very good feeling about this year. If we can keep our key guys healthy, our lineup is a beast for any pitcher. Another WS here we go! Gotta bring that trophy back to LA!

Cubs lose again, now 1-4. Not the start I expected. Our BullPen has major issues. We need a legit closer because we haven't been able to hold leads so far. Man do I miss Chapman. Even if for some odd reason the Cubs have a bad season, I can cut them a pass because they have won more games than any team in Baseball over the last 4 years (2015-2018) and just won a WS 2 years ago. It happens to the best of teams sometimes. We still got that ring, so it's all good.

-Big series coming up with the Brew drinkers at Milwaukee this weekend. They are 6-1 and we are 1-5 so far. This will be interesting to see how we respond to this disastrous start.

-After winning the WS in 2016 everything is gravy to me anyway. Here are some facts:
Cards haven't won a WS since 2011 LOL - our biggest rival.
Yankees haven't won a WS since 2009
Phillies haven't won a WS since 2008
A's haven't won a WS since 1989
Dodgers haven't won a WS since 1988
Mets haven't won a WS since 1986
Indians haven't won a WS since 1948
-All notable great franchises, let that shit sink in for a minute. :roflmao:

Looks like the Cubs' pitching is their biggest problem right now.

"What we're going through right now would have happened at some point during the season," manager Joe Maddon said. "When it happens during the year, then it's disguised more readily by your record. When you don't have a record, it stands out like a neon, flashing sign."

What stands out more than anything are the numbers associated with the Cubs' pitching staff. Of course, it's early, and of course, it can turn around, but it's as ugly as it gets right now. After Friday's loss, the Cubs rank last in the majors in ERA (7.85). They are 29th in starters' ERA and 29th in relievers' ERA. Carl Edwards Jr. has a 32.40 mark after serving up that long ball to Arcia (in Friday's loss to the Brewers). The bullpen also ranks first in issuing walks. It's a mess."

The Dodgers are starting off strong, and I believe we have a more solid and seasoned group than we've had in some time. I'm expecting nothing less than another full-on run to the World Series.

Cubs have some major problems with their pitching. The Bullpen is awful. I did not realize how bad it was until this last week. Cubs could very well have a down year. So far the Dodgers look sharp and ready. Maybe you guys get the ring this year in this era finally.

Cubs Prez Theo Epstein puts blame on himself:

"There is always a search for scapegoats when you get off to a tough start," Epstein said in the Cubs' dugout before Saturday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. "[Pitching coach] Tommy Hottovy is not the problem. He's a big part of the solution. [Owner] Tom Ricketts is not the problem. It's not a resource issue. I know he's another one that's been taking a lot of heat. It's not a resource problem. If people have a problem with the allocation of resources, then that's on me. And it has been ever since I got here, with a lot of good and some bad."

Theo goofed up when he let Arrieta walk and signed Darvish. I knew that was a mistake from the beginning. I did not understand that at all. I would've done everything in my power to try and keep Chapman as well. We just let him walk without even trying. After Chapman, we had Wade Davis in 2017 who was a good closer and let him walk too. Anyway the Cubs came up with a much needed win tonight over the 1st place Brewers to stop the bleeding. As bad as things have been early on we are only 4.5 games back, it seems like 10 for some reason.

Dodgers having a near-perfect start, getting huge run production and efficient pitching to build a whopping +30 run differential already in nine games - largest in the league. In the AL, the Mariners look for real as well.

It is so tough to win a WS in Baseball. No team has repeated since Ken's Yankees in 2000. It is tough for most teams just to make the playoffs 2 years in a row. I know it's early but look how bad the Red Sox look so far and they won 108 games last season and won the WS. Cubs had a hell of a 4 year run from 2015-2018 by making the playoffs and winning a WS in 2016.

This may be the Dodgers year as they have been good all decade and it looks like this could be a year where it is wide open.

D-Backs' catcher ingures leg rounding bases after hitting home run.

Orioles' Davis 0 for 44, needs two more hitless at-bats to tie MLB futility mark.

Reds' Puig rushes mound unnecessarily vs. Pirates, gets suspended - and oh yeah Reds SUCK.

Dodgers win again.

Yankees 15, Orioles 3. Gary Sanchez with 3 bombs! :D

JOC PEDERSON WALK OFF!!!

Puig and Kemp - former Dodgers - chased Kershaw and used Kenley to push a 2-2 tie to a 3-2 lead in the top of the 9th, then Joc comes up and slaps a high fastball into the bleachers!

Wow, we followed a great start with a string of losses, but the NL West is ours in the long term. Bank it.
