Before the game in a conference room inside the A's Coliseum, we were treated to a fantastic lineup of finger foods and tons of information about JDRF - the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund of which my oldest son, who has Type 1 diabetes, is a member. Bob Melvin, the A's manager, even came up to speak (in his game uniform!) about his experiences - his daughter was diagnosed in 2003 at 14 years old and has been fighting the good fight to fund research for a cure. All in all a fantastic night out for baseball!

That sounds like an awesome time Rev. A's might win the World Series this year  . There is just something missing with the Dodgers this season unfortunately, Cubs aren't dominant either. I don't like the Red Sox so I hope someone knocks them off. I hate all Boston/Mass teams. Red Sox, Pats, and Celtics = :brainfart: as in FART, not BRAIN FART :roflmao:

Right now I am following the Cards at Dodgers game at work, it's 0-0 in the Bottom of the 5th. I am hoping the Dodgers do me a solid and beat the Cards tonight. As it stands now the NL Central looks like this as of August 22nd:
Cubs 72-53 *Still the best record in the NL
Cards 70-57 (3 back)
Brewers 71-58 (3 back)
-Cubs and Brewers both won today. I am hoping the Cards lose so that would put them 3.5 back. They have been on fire lately. Glad to see the Cubs come out of their funk tonight with an 8-2 win over the Tigers. Cubs traded for Daniel Murphy and only had to give up 1 minor leaguer, what a gift. He was 2-5 tonight with an RBI. The Cubs FO for the most part has been brilliant over the last 4 seasons. Can't argue with success with 3 straight NLCS appearances (2015-2017) and a WS Championship in 2016. The Yu Darvish signing is the only big blunder they have made over the last 4 seasons. Should've re-signed Arrieta. Oh well water under the bridge now. Trading for Hamels was huge though - that helps, he has Pitched lights out for the Cubs since joining the team. Hamels is giving us what Darvish didn't. Cubs now just have 37 games left in the season, lets see if they can hang on and win their Division and get HFA in the NL :xfingers:

-Kris Bryant update = Been hearing he is near 100% and should be back shortly. It will be real fun watching him, Rizzo, Baez, ZoBrist, and Murphy in the same lineup! God I love Baseball.

Cubs are on a roll! Have won 4 straight and in the driver seat in the NL Central. The NL Central Standings heading into August 26th now are:
1. Cubs 75-53 *best overall record in the NL as well
2. Cards 72-58 (4 back)
3. Brewers 72-59 (4.5 back)

-Time is running out on the Cards and Brewers, Cubs just have 34 games left, Cards 32 left, Brewers 31. Basically only 1 more month of Baseball left folks!

Here are the complete breakdown of the Standings in Baseball heading into August 30th. 1 more month left in the Regular Season guys!

American League
EAST
Red Sox 92-42 *Best overall record in Baseball and holds the 1 Seed in the AL
Yankees 84-49 (7.5 back) *Holds 1st Wildcard spot
Rays 71-62 (20.5 back)
Jays 60-73 (31.5 back)
Orioles 40-94 (52 back)

CENTRAL
Indians 75-57 *Holds the 3 Seed
Twins 62-70 (13 back)
Tigers 53-80 (22.5 back)
White Sox 53-80 (22.5 back)
Royals 42-91 (33.5 back)

WEST
Astros 82-51 *Holds the 2 Seed
A's 80-54 (2.5 back) *Holds 2nd Wildcard spot
Mariners 74-59 (8 back)
Angels 64-69 (18 back)
Rangers 58-76 (24.5 back)

National League
EAST
Braves 74-58 *Hold the 2 Seed
Phillies 71-62 (3.5 back)
Nationals 67-67 (8 back)
Mets 59-74 (15.5 back)
Marlins 53-81 (22 back)

CENTRAL
Cubs 78-54 *Best overall record in the National League and holds the 1 Seed in the NL
Cards 74-59 (4.5 back) *Holds 1st Wildcard spot
Brewers 74-60 (5 back) *Holds 2nd Wildcard spot
Pirates 65-68 (13.5 back)
Reds 57-76 (21.5 back)

WEST
D-Backs 73-60 *Holds the 3 Seed
Rockies 72-60 (0.5 back)
Dodgers 72-61 (1 back)
Giants 67-68 (7 back)
Padres 52-83 (22 back)

-My Cubs are looking pretty solid to capture their 3rd straight NL Central Division Title at this point which would be (2016-2018). They are shooting for a 4th Straight NLCS Appearance which would be (2015-2018), and a 2nd WS Appearance and WS Title which would be (2016/2018) with this same core group. It should be interesting as the season is winding down. The Red Sox have been the talk of the league with their 92-42 record but it doesn't guarantee anything come Playoff time. The Dodgers were 94-42 at this point last season and they lost to the Astros in the WS.

Cubs just beat the Braves tonight in Atlanta 5-4. I love my team as they are in the middle of one of the greatest 4 season stretches of all-time Win/Loss wise with a Championship in the history of Baseball from 2015-2018. I watched that game from start to finish tonight and both teams were giving 100%. Both teams were making amazing plays and jawing with one another. That is the 1st game I have honestly seen all season that had a Playoff feel too it. Braves trying to prove they belong but fall short. Go Cubs - Maddon is the best Manager in Baeball! That was a tough gritty win. That looked like a Playoff game! Cubs can beat anyone, that means YOU TOO RED SOX! MVP (Kris Bryant) is healthy now too, let the games begin! :pissedkobe:

I'm at the A's game again tonight . . chilling in a suite with my wife's cousin from Seattle. Mariners are 6 games out but so far smacking the A's up. Spent the earlier time watching my USC Trojans and Cal Bears win while the Seattle U Dub Huskies played like crap and lost to Auburn. Ooops it's MLB not NCAAF :waaaaa: :snapout: :bbalargu:

Great stuff Rev! I am actually glad Football is back. NFL starts next week, I don't like the new Defensive rules but it is what it is. Meanwhile on the North side of Chicago my Cubs just keep rolling and are hot at the right time. They have now won 9 of 11 and now lead the Cards by 4.5 games and lead the Brewers by 5 games in the NL Central. Kris Bryant is back and healthy, he went 2-4 with a Double last night at Philly. As of now all roads lead through Wrigley if the Playoffs were to start today in the NL, Cubs would have HFA in the NL. Cubs actually now have the 4th best record in the whole league only behind the Red Sox, Yankees, and Astros. They moved %points ahead of the A's after last nights results. I bring that up because best record gets HFA in the WS. Cubs are only 2.5 games behind the Astros as well. Cubs now only have 27 games left in the season, then it will be Playoff time! September Baseball is always fun.

September is working things out as it always does. Cubs and Dodgers both won today, Dodgers are now in 1st place in the NL West. If the Playoffs started today the Cubs would be the 1 Seed, Dodgers the 3 Seed. Which means they both could easily meet in the NLCS again because they would be in different bracket's. @Rev and Craig, ready for Round 3? That would be the rubber match between us in the NLCS series's. Cubs won in 2016, Dodgers won in 2017.

Matty Kemp continues his hot return to the Dodgers by blasting the walk-off home run to put us back in 1st place!! The stretch run is here - it's time to separate the contenders from the pretenders.

I think in the end the Contenders are the Cubs and Dodgers in the NL. In the AL - Red Sox, Yankees, Astros, and A's are all really good!

This is the time of year I start to pay attention to baseball and am watching the Yankees for last 2 weeks. The pundits are always saying how the Yankees greta pitching staff will take them to the postseason, but I see jack in this staff myself! Some of these guys are a joke and over the hill. Their bats are for shit also.

Yeah the Cubs can drive me nuts as well at times. They lost 4-3 to the Brewers today but shit happens. IMO the Yankees have as good as chance as anyone else to win the WS. There are 6 teams that have a chance to win the WS IMO and they are Red Sox, Yankees, Astros, A's, Cubs, and Dodgers. I think everyone else is a pretrender at this point. The Indians are Good but they choke every year, the Brewers are Good but their only chance to go deep in the Playoffs is to win the NL Central IMO, with the Cubs in their way I don't see it! Braves are still babies.

The AL looks nearly locked up, with the Red Sox, Indians and Astros all cruising. The Yankess are locked in as one Wild Card, and the A's will be the other - unless Houston stumbles and gives away the division lead in these next few weeks. That A's/Yankees play-in game will be HUGE.

In the NL, all the division races are close. Philly's chasing the Braves, the Brewers are chasing the Cubs, and in the West the three top teams can't seem to decide who wants the lead. Based on their records, none of them are Wild Card-eligible, as the Brewers and Cards have more wins and won't be caught. The Rockies leapt out ahead recently, surprising everyone, and the under-achieving Dodgers may be looking at a long, ugly off-season if their loaded team doesn't make the playoffs. Winner-take-all.

With only 20+ games to go, the playoffs start NOW for Houston, Oakland, Colorado, Los Angeles, Arizona, Atlanta and Philadelphia. Milwaukee and St. Louis are sitting in the driver's seat right now, but the pressure to win every game from here on out is on every team listed. Arizona is in a series with Atlanta, and the Dodgers and Rockies start a huge series tonight.

Batter up.

Dodgers won tonight over the Rockies, huge win for them. They are now only .5 out of 1st in the NL West. Cubs are still up 4 games in the NL Central over the Brewers, and the Braves are the NL East leaders. Brewers and Cards hold the Wildcard spots. In the AL, Redsox, Astros, and Indians all lead their divisions while the Yankees and A's hold the Wildcard spots. That Yankees/A's one game elimination matchup should be a classic if they do indeed play. The game would be at NY.

-Officially now only 3 weeks to go in the season going by the schedules.
