Theo Epstein stepped down as the Cubs President of Baseball operations. It was a fun ride and he promised a WS Title and delivered in 2016. The 2016 season will never be forgotten as the Cubs rolled to a 103-58 record, defeating the Giants in the Divisional Round 3-1, defeating the Dodgers 4-2 in the NLCS, and defeating the Indians 4-3 in the WS. That 2016 team is still regarded as one of the top 10 teams of all-time by most major baseball outlets. It featured NL MVP Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo, Javi Baez, and Ben Zobrist. Pitchers - Jake Arrieta, Jon Lester, Kyle Hendricks, and Aroldis Chapman, managed by Joe Maddon.

Nothing last forever.

"Former Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Joc Pederson is in agreement on a one-year, $7 million deal with the Chicago Cubs, sources told ESPN.

Pederson, 28, batted .234/.339/.479 with 123 homers and 108 doubles in 687 regular-season games for the Dodgers from 2015 to 2019, making an All-Star team and posting an .864 OPS against righties.

While teams showed significant interest in Pederson as a platoon specialist, the Cubs plan to use him as an everyday player. Pederson's desire for consistent at-bats, as well as the Wrigley Field dimensions conducive to his swing."

Well . . we finally broke through with a little help - maybe - from Covid (Kershaw didn't have to feel the pressure of the opposing crowds :nervousalot: ) and of course we've been stacked with talent, so it makes sense that we'd deal someone. Losing Kike hurts as well - especially to the Red Sox :anfinger: but he gave us six years of stellar play and lots of fun memories.

Baseball is coming soon! Pretty good article on ESPN about C.C. Sabathia's battle with alcoholism.

Dodgers open up the Vegas odds at the highest win projection in MLB betting history - 104.5 games. Our pitching rotation is SICK, and we have Big Red Jason Turner back, so yeah it's going to be a year full of winning ways for the defending champs.

Yep, you have the bragging rights now in here since I have known you, Ken, and Nuggs which was the 2010 season. I had them for a few years because of the Cubs winning a WS in 2016 but now you are the team to beat. Here is an updated list of WS Champions since the 2010 season:
2010 - Giants
2011 - Cardinals
2012 - Giants
2013 - Red Sox
2014 - Giants
2015 - Royals
2016 - Cubs
2017 - Astros*
2018 - Red Sox*
2019 - Nationals
2020 - Dodgers
*= found cheating!

Dodgers will probably repeat in 2021, I can't see why they wouldn't with that loaded team. Question is when will Ken and Nuggs Yankees win another WS? They haven't won one since 2009.

Here is my Chicago Cubs preview for the 2021 season:
Baseball is a week away so here it goes fella's. Since the Cubs won the World Series in the 2016 season with a 103-58 record they have been one of the best/most consistent teams in baseball. Over the last 5 seasons which I call recent history, the Cubs have won the NL Central Division 3 times = 2016, 2017, and 2020 + have their WS Championship in 2016 as I mentioned. They are the reigning NL Central Division Champions but heading into 2021 there are a lot of questions with the Cubs. Can they repeat as NL Central Division in 2021? Most baseball experts on ESPN, MLB Channel, and in Chicago locally have the team at around .500 (81-81). Not much hype or belief behind the 2021 Cubs so far! The Cubs have starting Pitcher Kyle Hendricks back and have added Zach Davies, and my main man Jake Arrieta is back in the house via Free Agency. Not a bad 3 at all. The Bull Pen is a huge question mark and worrisome so that could be a shit show at times?? If Craig Kimbrel can regain his form from a few years ago the Cubs may be in business. Returning players Kris Bryant (nick named MVP), Javier Baez (nick named El Mago), and Anthony Rizzo (nick named Captain) all are back but can they be the great players they once were and be productive for the Cubs to win a lot of games? David Ross as Manager did a great job in year 1 on the job replacing the great Joe Maddon as the Cubs won the NL Central Division in 2020 but is he the real deal?

My outlook for this team is I see a ceiling for 91 wins if a lot falls right (91-71), if things go bad then believe it or not an 80 win season is possible  . So I expect 85 wins or so which won't win the division or get them in the playoffs in probability - still a decent season. I am still stoked for the season and being an underdog for a change isn't a bad thing. I am used to it with the Cubs back before the 2016 season. The Cubs have been looked at as a favorite since the 2016 season started to win their Division and many have had them the 2nd best team in the NL only behind the Dodgers in that 5 year time frame. 2021 should be an interesting ride Cubs fans!

The 2016 Chicago Cubs are still looked at by many as the greatest team since the 2000 season = 2000's era. The 103-58 mark along with winning the WS Championship is only 2nd to the Boston Red Sox winning 108 games and winning the WS Championship in 2018 since the 2000's began. The Red Sox have an * by their WS Championship though because of suspected cheating. The 2009 New York Yankees were 103-59 winning the WS Championship so almost identical to what the Cubs did in 2016. The Cubs played 1 less game hence the better record, that was due to a game being postponed because of weather.

Padres pitcher and Southern California native Joe Musgrove - newly acquired by San Diego from the Pittsburgh Pirates - tossed a no-no in his last start, and the Dodgers honored him before a WILD game in San Diego tonight which saw a benches-clearing, extra-innings slugfest.

“After 8,206 games, the Padres have a no-hitter, brought to us by a native son,” Padres owner Peter Seidler said during a ceremony at home plate that included Musgrove's family and girlfriend.

Musgrove was presented with a framed No. 44 jersey signed by his teammates and a check for $8,206 for his favorite charity, the Challenged Athletes Foundation."

So far the Cubs and Yankees look bad lol. The Cubs did look great yesterday as Kris Bryant and Willson Contreras homered twice in a 13-4 win over the Braves but the team is only 6-8. Yankees are 5-9 . Dodgers are a machine so far as I predicted at 13-2 :roflmao:

These Dodgers will wind up being an historically great team.

Possibly so, out of the teams I have seen in my lifetime going back to the late 70's, easily the best teams I have seen are:

1. Your 1998 NY Yankees - They were the best team of that 3Peat team. They went 114-48 and were a loaded all-star team as you know.

2. 1986 NY Mets - I know you think they were misfits and they were :roflmao: but that team went 108-54 and their starting pitching was damn scary great! That team also had several clutch hitters.

3. My 2016 Cubs - They went 103-58 and had to beat the Dodgers in the NLCS to even get to the WS. They beat the Dodgers 4-2 and that Dodgers team was loaded with Kershaw dead smack in his prime. Then we had to play an Indians team in the WS that was hungrier than hell and on fire. The Indians also had HFA and were up 3-1 in that series. The Cubs were so clutch that year, they came back from a 3-1 deficit without HFA against a team that was just as talented. The Cubs are 3rd to me and I can say that without no bias and feel comfortable about it. Bryant, Rizzo, Baez, ZoBrist, Arrieta, Lester, and Chapman. Back in 2016, Chapman could throw 103 MPH "lol4:

-No team has repeated since the 2000 season, that was the Yankees but the Dodgers have a great shot at it. They did win it all in a super shortened season so I still can't see putting them better than the 4th best team I have ever seen. No disrespect toward Rev but that is my opinion. This years team is a machine and I like the Dodgers, I would be ok with them repeating. They have a likeable team. The team they have now is better talent wise compared to their 1981 and 1988 teams.

The Cubs so far this season stink, at 6-9 something goofy is going on with the water in Chicago?? The Yankees are now 5-10. I know it is early but this is worrisome.

Interesting articles about the Cubbies out there that their lineup can't hit the fastball . . they brought on the Dodgers' beloved Joc Pederson but so far it's been a lackluster opening fortnight. Dodgers are sailing (although lost to the A's and Mariners in one week) and the A's and Mariners - my AL teams - are both looking solid so far. Baseball is a grind but it's nice to drive by the Oakland Coliseum at night and see the lights bright for Athletics home games. Green-Collar Baseball.

Cubs are toying with the Mets in their 3 game set right now, and the Mets were red hot coming into the series. Of course the future Hall of Famer Jake Arrieta shut the Mets down on Tuesday night to improve to 3-1 on the season. Last night the bats came out, El Mago hit a Grand Slam and the Cubs steamrolled the Mets 16-4. Cubs are currently only 2.5 games out of 1st place behind the Milwaukee Clippers in the black and blue division with a long way to go. Yeah they are the Clippers of baseball, never will win a championship but chirp a big game :waaaaa:

Regarding Kyle, he is butt hurt that the Cubs wanted to part ways with him, having said that I like Kyle and he was a solid Cubby. He got a ring in 2016.

Other news: How about them A's Rev, 11 straight wins!

Cubs sweep Mets to improve to 9-9. About time we start playing better. Only 2 games out of 1st place now in the NL Central behind the BrewCrew. I have always said just play .500 ball and maintain through April and May, then when June rolls around is when baseball really begins. If a team isn't playing well in June, there is a problem. April and May are a feeling out process, it is a long season.
