MLB - the 7th Inning Stretch

Great now I don't have to watch :waaaaa:
If the Bums and Yanks make it back to the Fall Classic, not only will it be record-setting from a TV viewership standpoint but a bigger sports event than any Lakers/Celtics matchup could ever be. We have a lot of youngish talent, we just have to keep finding good pitching and keep a couple of crafty veterans on-board.

I'm surprised the Yankees are such faves despite their ferocious lineup. Mediocre at best starting pitching. Too much reliance on the 'pen and you never really know what you have there despite individual success in prior seasons. It's like NBA benches.

A lot of guys on the MLB Network and ESPN are picking the Cubs to win it all as well. They are saying the Cubs just had a let down due to winning the WS. I can see that but to me our BullPen is shaky and losing Jake sucks ass. Yankees and Dodgers both have better Rosters IMO.

2 Greatest WS winners over the last 30 seasons between 1988-2017 are the 1998 Yankees at 114-48 and 2016 Cubs at 103-58. That is going back 30 years almost before Robert was born :roflmao:. Make your move Kenny, I am starting Lester in Game 1 and saving Jake for Game 2, hoping to steal Game 1. You have Rivera but I have Chapman regarding Bullpen's. You have Jeter, I have MVP-Bryant. It would be a 2-3-2 series with Yankees having HFA. I am ready for some fucking Baseball :standingO:

I can see it now, Rivera would be grinning ear to ear saying I am the best ever. Then I snap my fingers and say CHAP please enter :roflmao:. Then Rivera would be like oh Shit! Rivera was Great but couldn't throw 103 like Chap. Chap isn't as Great now but in 2016 he could throw 103. We overused him to a fault actually but it paid off "lol4:. 2016 Cubs would take the 1998 Yankees 4-3 because they could win Game 7's on the road and had Great Pitching and Hitting + with ChapPack in the BullPen we were money.

-ChapPack = Double Whopper with Cheese, Large Fries, Large Chocolate Shake, Large Coke from the Burger King. Who is the man who can strike out any man - (in Shaft's voice), then Ladies singing CHAP, got to get a ChapPack in my Shaft voice! :roflmao:

"The redhead from New Orleans signed with the Houston Colt .45’s in 1961 for a bonus of $110,000. In 1963, at barely 19 years old, Rusty Staub began his baseball career as Houston’s first great rookie hope. Staub worked harder than most to become the durable, excellent offensive player that his 23-year career revealed him to be. Hall of Fame greats Ted Williams and Duke Snider both described Rusty Staub as one of the greatest pure hitters they had ever seen." - Texas Baseball Hall of Fame

On April 8, 1969, the Montreal Expos played their first regular season game in franchise history, Rusty Staub was the starting right fielder that historic day in Shea Stadium. In that game, Staub became the first Expos player to wear uniform #10, the first to fly out (1st inning, versus Tom Seaver), the first to hit a single (3rd inning / versus Tom Seaver), and the first to homer off a relief pitcher (8th inning / versus Al Jackson).

Did you know that Rusty Staub was the first Expos player ever sent to an All-Star Game (1969 All-Star Game), the first sent to two (1969 & 1970 All-Star Game / so the first consecutive appearances as well), the first to actually play in a Midsummer Classic (1970 All-Star Game), and the first sent to three (1969, 1970, & 1971 All-Star Game / the first back-to-back-to-back appearances)?

Did you know that Rusty Staub had 792 hits with the Houston Astros, 531 hits with the Montreal Expos, 709 hits with the New York Mets and 582 hits with the Detroit Tigers, making him the first player in Major League history with 500+ hits with four different Major League teams?

Did you know that Rusty Staub drove in 121 runs in 1978, second most (Top 25) in the American League, most by a designated hitter that season, earning Le Grande Orange the Outstanding Designated Hitter Award - the first Detroit Tigers lefty to receive the honor? Do you know who their first righty recipient was? [Answer]

Did you know that Ty Cobb, Gary Sheffield and Rusty Staub are the only players to hit a home run as a teenager and after turning forty? Did you notice, when looking at Staub's stats, that he had at least home run in all 23 years he played, third most behind Rickey Henderson (25 seasons) and Ty Cobb (24 seasons)?

Did you know that Rusty Staub got his nickname when he was born, not by his parents, but by a nurse? The story appeared in Baseball: The Biographical Encyclopedia (Matthew Silverman, Total Sports Publishing, May 2000, Page 1,077), "Daniel Joseph Staub came across his nickname very early. 'I wanted to name him Daniel so I could call him Danny for short,' said his mother. 'But one of the nurses nicknamed him Rusty for the red fuzz he had all over his head, and it stuck.'

Here's some real fun history that I know Kenny and Nuggs will love! It involves several Yankees team. It also includes a Cubs team too :beavis:.

Teams with the best record to win the WS in each decade since the 60's
*60's = 1961 Yankees 109-53 beat the Reds 4-1 in the WS. Remember Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris in 1961?

*70's = 1970 Orioles 108-54 beat the Reds 4-1 in the WS/1975 Reds 108-54 beat the RedSox 4-3 in the WS. Tie between those 2 teams.

*80's = 1986 Mets 108-54 beat the RedSox 4-3 in the WS.

*90's = 1998 Yankees 114-48 beat the Padres 4-0 in the WS.

*2000-2009 = 2009 Yankees 103-59 beat the Phillies 4-2 in the WS.

*2010-2017 (so far) = 2016 Cubs 103-58 beat the Indians 4-3 in the WS. Cubs played 161 games due to having 1 game cancelled because of weather. Only 2 more seasons left in the decade - 2018 and 2019.

Best of the best baby! :mariano:
