As for the Cubbies, well -- it's an accurate barometer of how fickle each baseball season is. A couple years ago, the mighty SF Giants and the dangerous Royals went 7 games, with Ace Bumgardener looking all-world. Now the Gnats are in the cellar - no thanks to an irresponsible MadBum - and my Dodgers just swept the Royals.

Viva Beisbol!

Long way to go wise one, I love ya but I got Kris Bryant on my side and Jake. I still believe because we are the Champs. In all seriousness your Dodgers look like last years Cubs, they are fucking rolling.

Is Aaron Judge the best player in Baseball? At the break he has 30 HR's and bats .329. He also is hitting 500 foot HR's in the Homerun Derby walking away with that win.

As I am watching MLB tonight (All-Star edition), here is a look back at the greatest teams in each decade since the 50's. The merger happened in 1947 where African Americans were allowed to play and WWII was over by then, so once the 50's got rolling Baseball was at its best.

The 1950's
Best team - 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers, 98-55 record. They beat the New York Yankees in the 1955 World Series 4-3 showing the teams greatness. Jackie Robinson got his Ring.

The 1960's
Best team - 1961 New York Yankees, 109-53 record. They beat the Cincinnati Reds 4-1 in the 1961 World Series. That was the season Roger Maris set the HR record with 61 beating Babe Ruth's record of 60.

The 1970's
Best team - 1975 Cincinnati Reds, 108-54 record. They beat the Boston Red Sox in the 1975 World Series 4-3. It was perhaps the best World Series ever played in MLB history.

The 1980's
Best team - 1986 New York Mets, 108-54 record. They beat the Boston Red Sox in the 1986 World Series 4-3. Bill Buckner's blunder in Game 6 allowed the Mets to win Game 6, then they closed the deal in Game 7.

The 1990's
Best team - 1998 New York Yankees, 114-48 record. They beat the San Diego Padres 4-0 in the 1998 World Series. IMO, the greatest team of all-time since the 1947 merger. Record wise it was anyway!

The 2000's-2009
Best team - 2009 New York Yankees, 103-59 record. They beat the Philadelphia Phillies 4-2 in the 2009 World Series. During that season, Derek Jeter passed Lou Gehrig to become the all-time Hits leader in Yankees history with 2,722 Hits. Gehrig had the record with 2,721.

The 2010's-2017 so far
Best team - 2016 Chicago Cubs, 103-58 record. They beat the Cleveland Indians 4-3 in the 2016 World Series ending a 108 year Championship drought. They were only the 2nd team in MLB history to win a Game 6 and Game 7 on the road after being down 3-1 to capture the Championship. The 1979 Pittsburgh Pirates is the only other team to accomplish that feat when they were down 3-1 to the Baltimore Orioles 3-1 and won Game 6 and 7 on the road.

3Peat don't try to avoid the Cubs' Wade Davis giving up the GW HR to Swiss Family Robinson Cano in the ASG.

Ha ha ok everybody knows that after the break it all gets mildly serious. My prediction is that the Ass-trolls will falter and go *pop* like a dud firecracker in the playoffs, freeing the Beantown Red Stockings to take the pennant, and the Dodgers will somehow slap the Nationals out of the way to get back to the Classic. It's been too long, 3Peat!! Not like 108 years long, but daaaamn it's time for some good fortune to fall on my Blue Crew.

Yeah it figures that the only Cub who made the All-Star Game lost the game :roflmao: Cubs just traded for Jose Quintana and gave up 4 Minor leaguers who I don't know much about. That should help the starting Pitching out. We will see. Rev, I have said for about a month now I think it's the Dodgers year. I think this year is a golden opportunity for the Dodgers to break their 30 year jinx. Astros are playing great too but are new to it, Indians and RedSox are dangerous but you guys would have HFA against them. Nats always choke and if the Cubs don't make the Playoffs, your door is wide open IMO. Giants are out of it too as a side note so no MadBum to deal with.

I like the trade the Cubs made getting Quintana. They only gave up 1 Great prospect in reality, that was Jimenez. It's a win now league. Cubs could afford do that trade because they have a young team with Bryant/Rizzo/Baez/Russ/KyleS + Happ just came up. Cubs just won again and Jake got the win. Jake wasn't fucking around tonight. Cubs still play the Brewers a lot coming up, so 5.5 out isn't impossible to come back from. Brewers aren't that good, they are ok but we will see how this plays out? Cubs are back at .500 at 45-45. All we have to do is make the Playoffs, then at that point I think it's a toss up. The Dodgers are a machine right now but the Playoffs are a different animal. Bellinger hit for the CYCLE tonight as the BigBlue keep rolling. Remember though the Cubs beat the Dodgers last season 4-2 in the NLCS. We are World Champions for a reason.

Rookie Cody Bellinger keeps impressing - he hit a single in the first inning, a 2-run home run in the third, a double in the fourth, and got a rare triple in the seventh to complete only the tenth cycle in Dodgers' history. His swing is simple and compact, and he's having his way with pitchers this year. We needed some young firepower to replace Ethier and Gonzalez.

Great stuff! Cubs just swept the Orioles, we are back above .500 at 46-45. Brewers lost today, only 4.5 back now. Quintana with a shutout!

Joe DiMaggio's 56-game hitting streak in 1941, the longest in baseball history, began on May 15 and ended on July 17. . . 76 years ago today. DiMaggio hit .408 during the streak (91-for-223), with 15 home runs and 55 RBIs.

Yanks just picked up some more power with Todd Frazier and bolstered their bullpen by reacquiring David Robertson, but failed to address their biggest need .. starting pitching. Playoffs still look like a long shot to me. I knew they'd fade. It was nice while it lasted.

Cubs won again today, 6 in a row now. Brewers lost again. Cubs now 1.5 out of 1st place in the NL Central. Cubs haven't lost a game since the All-Star break. Love what I am seeing.

Brewers lost again, about fucking time they woke up! Cubs now only 1 game back in the NL Central and about time the Cubs woke up with 6 straight wins. Cubs have had to do their part to get back in this. Being 5.5 back wasn't a good feeling.

Ken, the Yankees are currently the last WildCard spot as we speak. I think they will get in. RedSox will probably win the Division but all that matters is, is getting in. Yankees still control that, they are up 1-0 right now in the 8th as I am watching them play Seattle. If the Yankees win this, they will have the same record as the Cubs oddly enough at 49-45. Cubs are about to start a 3 game set with the Cards, Jake is going tomorrow. Brewers have some luck on their side as they play the worse team in the league in Philly tomorrow. Cubs just need to keep winning and take care of their own business. 1 game out in the NL Central at 49-45, Brewers at 52-46 actually have 1 more loss.

Yankees now up 2-0 in the Top of 9th, Judge just gave the Yanks an insurance run in the 8th. Looking at the AL WildCard race, I would trust the Yankees over the Twins or Seattle getting that final spot. They are better than those teams IMO. Royals are nothing special either, nowhere near what they were 2 years ago when they won the WS. Indians will probably win the AL Central so just pencil them in as a Division Champ.
