MLB - the 7th Inning Stretch

I'm going to be into this season a lot more from start to finish, because I love baseball but I also need a distraction from the Lakers and Raiders current shenanigans. My Dodgers are - again - a sexy prediction to finally get back to the Fall Classic, but the 162-game marathon is a long haul and we never seem to do things in calm, orderly fashion in La La Land.

The Dodgers should be pretty good. I look at them and the Giants as the most dangerous threats to dethrone the Cubs in the NL. You can never count out the Cards or Mets either. In the AL the RedSox look scary Great on paper! The Indians will be tough to beat again too and they have a Great manager!

Baseball starts next Sunday, the Rosters are set. Who is everyone's pick to make and win the WS?

I have Cubs over RedSox. I think the Cubs have what it takes to Repeat. Losing Fowler and Chapman are blows but the Cubs are still loaded and I think they play loose this season now that the pressure is off of trying to win a WS. Playing with house money will allow this team just to have fun and play. This past season, they had a ton of pressure on them to win a WS because of the 108 year curse. They were able to win it all under tons of pressure so I trust this team under any circumstance. Lineup still consists of greats like Bryant/Rizzo/Zobrist/Schwarber and the Pitching staff is still stellar with Lester/Arrieta/Hendricks/Lackey/Montgomery. In the AL, to me the RedSox are the best team. I think they are now a tad better than the Indians on paper anyway with the moves they have made. The same 2 teams making the WS 2 years in a row rarely happens so I say Sox win the AL.

My Final result = Cubs 4-3 over RedSox (in 7). No team has Repeated since 2000 and that was a 3Peat by the Yankees from 1998-2000. It going to happen sooner or later, just law of averages.

Dodgers, of course! Getting past the Cubs. In the AL, I don't know. Gonna have to see how the first couple months of the season looks.

A lot of the media is picking the Dodgers to win it all this season. A lot say they are due as they have been right on the cusp the last few years. They do scare me, if anyone beats the Cubs in the NL it will probably be them IMO or maybe the Giants.

Baseball starts Sunday :kingclaphands: Lester takes on Martinez (Cubs at Cards) and on Monday Kershaw takes on Chacin (Padres at Dodgers). This is going to be a great weekend, I am off until Tuesday now. Going to watch the Final 4 tomorrow and Baseball all day Sunday and Monday. The Championship Game is Monday night as well in College Basketball. Here are my Final picks for the upcoming Baseball season:
AL East winner = Boston RedSox
AL Central winner = Cleveland Indians
AL West winner = Houston Astros (different from last season)
WildCards = Texas Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays
AL Champion = Boston RedSox
-Usually not all the same teams make the Playoffs from the yr before, I have Houston in this yr

NL East winner = Washington Nationals
NL Central winner = Chicago Cubs
NL West winner = SF Giants (different from last season)
WildCards = LA Dodgers and St Louis Cardinals
NL Champion = Chicago Cubs
-St Louis makes the Playoffs this yr, NY Mets out IMO

WS Champion = Chicago Cubs over Boston RedSox 4-3! Repeat!

Cubs just took 2 out of 3 in St Louis, nice start to the season! 2-1 so far. Beating our arch rivals at their place 2 out of 3 will shut them Cards fans up! Jake Arrieta looked awesome/like his oldself on Tuesday as well getting the win.

Cubs hanging the Championship Banner tonight in the home opener vs the Dodgers! So far Cubs are 4-2 and look pretty good. Since the 1947 merger (when African Americans were then allowed to play and WW2 was over) the Cubs rank as the 9th best winning World Series team of all-time % wise at 103-58. Since 1980 only the 1984 Tigers who were 104-58, 1986 Mets who were 108-54, and the 1998 Yankees who were 114-48 have been better Champions % wise! Tigers played 1 more game so basically the Cubs were arguably equal to them, both only lost 58 games. Cubs only played 161 games due to 1 game getting canceled and it was never made up.

The main Championship Roster starting lineup/2016 World Champs
CF Dexter Fowler
3B Kris Bryant
1B Anthony Rizzo
LF Ben Zobrist
SS Addison Russell
2B Javi Baez
C David Ross
RF Jason Heyward
P Jake Arrieta, when I go with a Lefty it would be Jon Lester to start
BullPen = Mike Montgomery Lefty, Aroldis Chapman Lefty

*Against AL teams - My DH would be Kyle Schwarber and I would bat him 2nd and just move everyone else down 1 spot, Bryant would be 3rd, Rizzo cleanup, Zobrist 5th, Heyward would bat 9th instead of 8th etc..

*Manager - Joe Maddon

-beat that team buddies!

Cubs now 5-2, taking down the Dodgers last night. Love what I am seeing already. I know it's early but Davis is looking like he can take Chapman's spot out of the Bullpen. With Schwarber healthy we not even miss Fowler.

I planned my whole Monday around that 5pm PDT start, and the rain delay just schnizzled my life. Close game, bad baseball (mostly by my Bums) early on, but OK 108 centuries is better than anything. JUST REMEMBER I PUT THE CUBS ON YOUR RADAR when I started this thread 3PEAT!!! :bbalargu: :wishbone: #GODODGERS :pissedkobe:

You sure did Rev. So many seasons of disappointments for me that I wasn't even into Baseball for a lot of years. I have always still watched during the Playoffs but up until a couple of seasons ago I rarely followed the Regular Season ever since the Bartman incident in 2003 - that was a punch to the gut losing that NLCS. I am into it now more than ever though. I have loved the Cubs since roughly 1984 and have been punched in the gut so much by their losing that after a while I lost interest. Things are different now of course. I also like the Mets (loved Doc Gooden back in the 80's) and they look good too early but I am diehard Cubs fan, always have been. The teams I really cant stand are the Cardinals and Whitesox - that is a Cubs thing, their fans hate us as well. I don't like the Redsox either, never have since the Clemens day. I just hate all Boston teams LOL. Anyway the Dodgers are a Top 5 team in the league IMO so I don't think you have much to worry about, I know the goal is to win it all but the Dodgers at the very worse will be a Playoff team.

Cubs took 2 out of 3 from the Dodgers. Cubs now 6-3, I will take this all season as in taking 2 of 3 from every team. Cubs are playing like Champs. So far nothing the Cards or Dodgers have brought to the table show me they can beat the Cubs in a series. We didn't face Kershaw but Arrieta didn't pitch either.

Yeah my Dodgers gotta get better at scoring runs, our pitchers need something to work with. The Cubs looked good in that series and will have a great season but it's too early to draw any conclusions yet. I do think the Cubs will have an easier time winning their division than the Dodgers, though.

Yankees have won 8 in row, where you at Kenny and Nuggs? Cubs have lost 4 in a row and mostly due to the BullPen, you ready to give us Chap back? This is what I worried about when Chap left!
