MLB - the 7th Inning Stretch

Baseball season starts on April 2nd, Cubs start off playing at Cards. Cant get here quick enough. That is when our weather starts really getting warm here in Indy as well, we are good from April through October weather wise. Once April hits the birds start singing! After the Patriots win today, Football will officially be over. As of now I already know it will be the Warriors vs Cavs in the Finals so there is really nothing to watch until Baseball starts other than just following some Lakers games out of being a fan of them. I am hoping the Lakers keep their Top 3 pick for leverage reasons to get better so if we lose now it wont bother me as it normally does. With 29 games to go we have 0 chance of making the Playoffs so if we lose, it is what it is.

The Dodgers adding reliever Romo from the Giants has SF/LA fanbases talking some smack, but both teams will likely be neck-and-neck for good parts of the season. Pitchers and catchers are putting the beer and sausages down!

Out of curiosity Rev what % do you give the Dodgers to win the World Series? I think 5 teams have a decent chance in the Cubs, Indians, RedSox, Giants, and Dodgers. To me that is the top tier teams. Perhaps I am underestimating the Nats, Astros, and Rangers but to me those teams are long shots.

The Bums are bums until they win one. There is no denying that the Gnaaats are the poise of the NL West and still the class of us both. We've managed to embarrass and squander ourselves into a no-win scenario, even if we do make it to the Fall Classic. Puig, Greinke . . and now the eventual fade of King Kersh have us in a pivotal state. Such is sports. At least I belong to three fanbases who are deathly loyal no matter what happens :kingclaphands:

Yeah I think it is wide open on who wins it all. There are really several teams that could win the WS. It could be the Dodgers year coming up. Think about it, they have been in the Playoffs a bunch and right on the cusp, they had the Cubs down 2-1. Cards won it in 2011, Giants have had their mini-dynasty going by winning in 2010/2012/2014, and the RedSox just won in 2013. Cubs finally broke through this past season. It may be the Dodgers turn out of the top tier teams? If the Cubs get knocked out I would root for them, they havent won it since 1988. I am not sure the Indians has what it takes to get back? They blew it like the Falcons did, it will be interesting to see how they bounce back from blowing a 3-1 lead with HFA in the WS. Yankees won it in 2009 as well so they have even won recently.

I am so into Baseball right now, cant wait for it to start. I am sick of Football, the Pats have ruined it for me. Basketball is pretty much a movie script waiting to be played out, meaning Warriors get their revenge by beating the Cavs in the Finals and Durant wins Ring #1. At least LeBron wont win this season unless the Warriors suffer an injury to one of the main players. I think it will still be Cavs vs Pacers in the ECFinals and Warriors vs Spurs in the WCFinals but we all know what the Finals will be. What makes Baseball great is we don't know who will even win their division. I am worried about the Cards a bit for example, between the Giants/Dodgers - we don't know, look at the RedSox division = BlueJays, Orioles, and Yankees as well. Baseball is the best sport going easily. I just wish they would get rid of that dumb rule regarding HFA in the WS based on the winner of the All-Star Game. That rule is the worst. I would love to see the season be cut down to maybe 130 games as well, 162 is way too many but that will never happen because of money. The Regular Season tends to get boring but if they shaved off 32 games it would have more relevance of importance IMO. Players would be healthier heading into the Playoffs as well. If Baseball was May 1st - Mid September and the Playoffs started in the 3rd week of September, cold weather would never be a factor either as the WS would be played in mid October.

I will make my early prediction on who goes to the WS and who wins it. I don't see the Indians making it back, they got extremely hot at the right time this past season. I will say Cubs vs Redsox and Cubs win in 7. So I predict a Repeat for my Cubbies. I have to roll with them until someone beats them. Teams like the Dodgers and even the Giants as of now have to prove to me they can beat the Cubs. Cubs beat the Giants 3-1, it didn't even go 5. On paper the Sox look scary as hell!

Alex Reyes, pitcher for the Cards out for the season. Tommy John surgery, huge blow to them already! That guy is a great talent.

On this date in 1969 in Major League Baseball history, the great Mickey Mantle announced his retirement.

Baseball is less than a month away! Cant wait. I will always love the Lakers and love Basketball but as of now Basketball has me down a bit with what is going on with the Jeanie and Jim, also I am so sick of LeBron I could puke. Why does the NBA even have a Salary Cap? Cavs are 34,000,000 dollars over it so what is the use of it? If an owner wants to pay the Luxury Tax to build a super team he can do it. I would if I was a billionaire, not like I am going broke. I think there should be a rule you cant go above the Salary Cap period, isn't that what the purpose is for it so teams cant build All-Star teams? Anyway once Baseball starts I will focus more on that being a Cubs fan since the mid 80's. Cubs open up at St. Louis on April 2nd, time to defend our Championship!

Baseball starts next Sunday. Cubs travel to St. Louis in the opener. Cant get here quick enough, usually I don't even get into Baseball until July because it's such a long season but with the Cubs now trying to Repeat I will follow more closely from the beginning.
