Congratulations on a Great career Peyton

Peyton Manning is announcing his retirement tomorrow at 1pm EST time. Here are his key accolades/records in his 17 Seasons career played, 1998-2010 Indianapolis Colts/2012-2015 Denver Broncos, didn't play in 2011 due to injury:
2 SB wins as a starting QB - Only 1 of 11 other QB's have won 2 or more in NFL history
Only player in NFL history to win a SB with 2 different teams as a starting QB (2006)(2015)
1 SB MVP (2006)
5 League MVP's - Most of all-time in NFL history (2003)(2004)(2008)(2009)(2013)
200 total wins as a starting QB (186 Regular Season)(14 Playoffs) - Most of all-time in NFL history
71,940 Passing Yards in the Regular Season - Most of all-time in NFL history
539 Passing TD's in the Regular Season - Most of all-time in NFL history
55 TD Passes in 1 Regular Season - Most in NFL history (2013)
5477 Yards Passing in 1 Regular Season - Most in NFL history (2013)
-Peyton is also 3-1 vs Tom Brady in AFC Title Games, winning in (2006)(2013)(2015)/losing in (2003). Very important note because this is considered one of the best rivalry's of all-time. Also proves when their teams play each other on the biggest stage that Peyton gets the better of him.

I thought this thread was about Gary Payton. I was like what? Did he die or something?

LOL, Nah I found out real early this morning Peyton was retiring, I mean like 5 in the morning your time so I had to make a special Thread for him. Of course he isn't a Laker :waaaaa: but he is arguably the greatest QB ever. His resume I posted speaks for itself. He is going out the way special players should go out, that is on top. Not too many players get a chance to do that. They had an awesome segment this morning on the NFL Channel where Kobe and Jeter both were talking about Peyton and how they admired him. Kobe is a huge Peyton Manning fan! I never knew that. It is a real downer that Kobe is going out the way he is, the Lakers FO should be ashamed of themselves but I wont go into that here as I have been very disgusted with this Lakers season. Watching the way Kobe is going out turns my stomach and it is really depressing.

I ran into GP a few weeks ago at a club in Oakland, and lo and behold I get on my plane in LA today and he's flying back with me!

I agree. Brady just signed an extension to play for 4 more years. If he plays for 4 more years that would put him at 42 years old. I don't see it. Father time catches up with everyone! I see him playing at a high level for maybe 2 more years? In order to break Peyton's all-time Passing Yards and all-time TD passes it will take Brady playing all 4 years at a high level. If I was starting a franchise and had to take a QB, I am taking Peyton. He has went to the SB with 4 different Coaches and won with 2 different one's on different teams. SB wins aren't the only gauge to judging who is the greatest QB ever, it is important and Peyton getting that 2nd is huge but is Trent Dilfer better than Dan Marino? Eli Manning beat Brady twice in the SB and he isn't even close to being better than Dan Marino. The Ring argument is flawed in many ways. Peyton won 5 League MVP's, in football it's almost impossible to win more than 2.

Rev, did you talk to him at all? He knows you doesn't he because I remember you saying you ran into him a long time ago as well. GP seems like he would be fun as hell to hang out with.

Had he played his whole career in Indy he would've been #2 behind Peyton IMO. I loved Dickerson. That was the beginning to putting our Football team on the map. When we got him in 1987 this city was a buzz drunk! We won the Division in 1987 and he had 9 straight 100 Yard games! Peyton#18, Marvin#88, Reggie#87, Sanders#21, Dickerson#29 are my Top 5. Freeney#93, Mathis#98, Saturday#63, Faulk#28, Harbaugh#4, Edge James#32, and now Andrew#12 are faces that have carried the Great Indianapolis franchise to greatness since 1987 to 5 Final 4's = 1995, 2003, 2006, 2009, 2014/2 AFC Championships = 2006 and 2009/but most importantly a World Championship in 2006 with Peyton winning SB MVP! No others should ever wear their numbers IMO. Adam Vinatieri currently wears #4 - Harbaugh's number only because Harbaugh ok'd it when we landed Vinny in 2006. Harbaugh is retired in the Ring of Honor. Thanks for the video Tate, Great stuff! All of the players I mentioned are retired in Ring of Honor except Peyton, Mathis, Vinatieri, Freeney, and Andrew and that's because they are still active.

Peyton coming home tomorrow to Indy for a Press Conference, part of his retirement. Not sure what it is fully about because the only way he can retire a Colt is if Elway terminates his rights of Peyton's contract, then Peyton can sign a 1 day deal and retire a Colt. Peyton is still under contract for another year with the Broncos eventhough he is retired. He was never released, just retired. Owner Jim Irsay wanted Peyton to have a presser here in downtown Indy on the 18th because that is Peyton's number = Pretty cool stuff. It is also rumored that the Colts will eventually have the first player statue built outside of Lucas Oil Stadium which will be a statue of Peyton Manning. While Peyton was with the Colts he won 4 League MVP's, 1 SB MVP, led his team to a SB win and 2 appearances.
